two ORG three THE DEA OF OC. ENDS HIS 25TH YEAR DURING THE PAST FEW YEARS, HERB HILL HAS BECOME KNOWN AS THE DEAN OF ORANGE COUNTY FOOTBALL COACHES. COACH HILL HAS BEEN AT LOARA FOR TWEN- TY-FIVE YEARS HIS RECORD AT LOARA IS I54-86-7. HILL'S SAXON TEAM WON THE CIF 3-A TITLE IN I968 AND SOUTH- ERN CONFERENCE TITLE IN 1979. THEY HAVE WON NINE LEAGUE CHAMPIONSHIPS. THE SAXONS HAVE NEVER HAD THE BLESSINGS OF SIZE AND EXCEPTIONAL TALENT, AND HAVE HAD FEWER PLAY- ERS THAN OTHER EMPIRE LEAGUE OPPONENTS, BUT COACH HILL DID THE BEST WITH WHAT HE HAD. THE SAX- ONS HAVE OUALIFIED TWELVE TIMES FOR THE PLAYOFFS. ONLY TWO OF HIS TWENTY-FOUR TEAMS HAVE FIN- ISHED LOWER THAN FOURTH PLACE. COACH HILL DOES NOT KNOW WHEN THE NICKNAME OF ORANGE COUNTY DEAN WAS PASSED ON TO HIM, BUT HE DOESN'T MIND IT AND WEARS IT COMFORTABLY. THIS YEAR THE SAXONS OPENED THE YEAR WITH THREE STRAIGHT SHUT-OUTSg THAT'S A FIRST EVEN FOR HILL. HE WOULD RATHER GIVE SECOND AND THIRD STRINGERS A CHANCE THAN TO GO FOR A SHUT-OUT. HERB HILL IS A GENTLEMAN. COACH HILL, BACKED BY A SUPERB STAFF OF COACH BLACK, COACH HALPIN, COACH HINMAN, COACH MIL- NER, AND COACH DELLIGATTA, LED THE SAXONS TO AN EMPIRE LEAGUE CHAMPIONSHIP IN I986. COACH HILL HAS A SIMPLE, YET APPROPRIATE PHILOS- OPHY. EVERYDAY IN EVERY WAY, WE TRY TO GET BETTER. WE ALWAYS BELIEVE THE GAME THIS WEEK IS THE ONE ON OUR MINDS AND EACH WEEK WE HOPE TO IMPROVE. I. Coach Herb Hill, the IQBB-I987 edition. 2. In a more relaxed moment, Coach Hill models his new Loara Football attire. 3. Herb Hill coaches his 243rCl lootball qame. herb hill
