GENERAL KNOWLEDGE? OUR WONDEREULLY ACADEMIC AND AMAZING KIWANIS BOWL TEAM WAS LEAD ONCE AGAIN BY, YES, THATS RIGHT, THAT EVER-SO-AMAZING WUN- DERKIND, MIKE PROCOPIO. THE REST OF THE TEAM INCLUDED ARA AMERKHAN- IAN, CRAIG BOYD, ROBERT DAGNALL, CAMERON DARWEESH, IIM DELEHOY, ADAM FULLMAN, IEEE IACOBSON, ADAM SHERR, MICHAEL WALLACE, IAMES WIL- LIAMS AND KEN YUEN. MRS. ESPING BRIL- LIANTLY HEADED THE INCREDIBLE TEAM TO GLORIOUS NEW VICTORIES AND EVEN MORE GLORIOUS VICTORY PAR- TIES. SOME OE THE CATEGORIES THAT WERE LOVABLY COVERED DURING THE COURSE OF THE FEW COMPETITIONS WERE AMERICAN HISTORY, FAMOUS NAMES, WORLD HISTORY, AMERICAN LIT- ERATURE, ENGLISH LITERATURE, GEOG- RAPHY, SCIENCE AND MATH. FOR ONE WEEK AS PARTICIPANTS OF CLOSE UP, A NON-PROFIT ORGANIZATION GEARED TOWARD EXPOS- ING YOUNG PEOPLE TO THE WORKINGS OF OUR GOVERNMENT. THEY SPOKE WITH POLITICIANS, LOBBYISTS, AND LEARNED SPEAKERS ABOUT THE ISSUES THAT CON- CERN OUR COUNTRY. VISITS TO CAPITOL HILL INCLUDED THE HOUSES OF THE SENATE, THE LIBRARY OF CONGRESS, AND THE SMITHSONIAN MUSE- UMS. DAYTIME LECTURES AND SEMINARS WERE COMBINED WITH NIGHT TOURS OF THE FAMOUS MONUMENTS. ROOMING WITH OUR STUDENTS WERE HIGHSCHOOLERS FROM TEXAS. THEY HAVE AN ENTIRELY DIF- FERENT SET OF SOCIAL AND ECONOMIC PROBLEMS, AND THEY TALK FUNNY, SAID E. LAWRENCE.
