STUDENTS WERE ABLE TO LEARN ABOUT OTHER CULTURES BY IOINING THESE CLUBS. THROUGH HARD WORK AND DEDICA- TION, DEAN CHA CPRESD ORGANIZED THE KCC FOR THE FIRST TIME HERE AT LOARA. YOUNG CHUNG CVICE-PRESJ, ED LEE ITREASJ, YOUNG PARK CSECJ, AND MRS. MENZIES IADVISORJ ALSO CONTRI- BUTED THEIR TIME TO THE CLUB WITH APPROXIMATELY 40 MEMBERS, LOARA'S KCC IOINED THE KOREAN-AMERICAN STUDENT ASSOCIATION CKASAD, WHICH CONSISTED OF ABOUT 20 OTHER KORE- AN CLUBS FROM ORANGE COUNTY HIGH SCHOOLS. ONE' THE 1986-87 G.A.T.E. CLUB YEAR WAS AN INTER- ESTING MIXTURE OF ACTIVITIES. THE FIELD TRIPS RANGED FROM THE NATURAL HISTORY MUSEUM IN LOS ANGELES TO THE TRADITIONAL PICNIC AT MALIBU BEACH FOR THE VISIT TO THE GETTY. THE LUNCHTIME ACTIVITIES WERE A MAIOR PART OF THE G.A.T.E. CLUBS YEAR. THESE INCLUDED THE ALWAYS-INTELLECTUALLY STIMULATING DE- BATES, WHERE EMOTIONS AND IDEAS, QAND SOMETIMES FOODJ PREVAILED IN THE AIR. THE LEADERS OF THE PACK WERE IRENE PAI. VICTOR KUO, LESLEY FRIEDLAND, AND YOUNG CHUNG. 'THE LEADER OF THE LEADERS WAS MS. VAN AL- STINE, A GREAT SUPPORT THROUGHOUT THE EN- TIRE YEAR. 'ITHIS YEAR WAS HARD TO ORGANIZE, BUT ENDED UP BEING REALLY FUN, SAID IRENE PAI. AND SO SHE SUMS UP THE ENTIRE YEAR- REALLY FUN. THE 1986-87 FINE ARTS UNLIMITED YEAR WAS TRULY A CLASS ACT. THE MONTHLY PERFOR- MANCES HIGHLIGHTED THE YEAR. SUCH PERFOR- MANCES INCLUDED PIANO, VIOLIN, AND ART DIS- PLAYS. UNDER THE LEADERSHIP OF PRESIDENT PETER I.O, VICE-PRESIDENT LUKE CHENG, SECRE- TARY MIC'HELLE WILKOFF, AND TREASURER DEN- ISE I-ISU, THE F.A.U. YEAR WAS TRULY A SUCCESS.
