DRILL TEAM DANCES STYLISHLY ALONG -, ,w , 3 I . in J ,X Q. I if SGVGTI THE 1986-87 VALKYRIE DRILL TEAM HAD A VERY OUT- STANDING YEAR. THE YEAR WAS ESPECIALLY GOOD CONSIDERING THE DRILL TEAM CONSISTED OF TEN RE- TURNING MEMBERS AND FOURTEEN NEW GIRLS. THE COMPETITIONS WERE A GREAT SUCCESS FOR ALL. THE DRILL TEAM TOOK FIRST PLACE TROPHIES AT MOUNT CARMEL AND SAVANA. AT SIL- VERADO AND MISSION VIEIO THE GIRLS TOOK THE SWEEP- STAKE TROPHIES. THE HARD WORK SURE PAID OFF. EVEN THE FORTY HOURS A WEEK. GETTING UP AT 5:00 A.M. TO GO TO PRACTICE AND STAY- ING AFTER SCHOOL TO PRAC- TICE AND REHEARSE TILL 5:00 P.M. WERE DAILY EVENTS. COURTIER TWIRL THEIR WAY TO SUCCESSFUL YEAR SIX eight SSVSII THE 1986-87 LOARA HIGH SCHOOL COURTIERS SHOWED GREAT SKILL AND TALENT THROUGHOUT THE YEAR, WHILE UNDER THE PRECISE INSTRUCTION OF LIN- DA RIZZO, FORMER MEMBER OF THE VALKY- RIE DRILL TEAM. A POSITIVE ATTITUDE, CONTINUOUS SUPPORT, AND A LOT OF HARD WORK WERE THE MAIN FACTORS OF THEIR SUCCESS. THE FLAG SQUAD, OPPOSING STIFF COM- PETITION, MANAGED TO CLAIM FIRST PLACE AT MOUNT CARMEL AND THIRD PLACE TROPHIES AT MISSION VIEIO, THE COURTIERS OFFICERS CVALRY REYES, PRES, SHARON DANIEL, VP, LISA GRAI-IAM, TREAS, AND TERA BENGSCHEA, SECJ MAN- AGED TO ORGANIZE AND ASSIST THE LEAD- ERS QCATHY DUNN, DIANE GOLLY, AND DIONNE HELMERD TO AN AWARD-WINNING YEAR.
