ARE YOU SEARCHING FOR THAT CER- TAIN SOMETHING TO TIDE YOU OVER UNTIL AFTER SCHOOL? HAVE YOU RUN OUT OF PAPER AND PENCILS? ARE YOU IUST BORED AND WANT SOMEWHERE TO GO? IF YOU HAVE FELT THIS WAY DUR- ING THE PAST SCHOOL YEAR, THEN YOU HAVE BEEN TO THE STUDENT STORE. WE TAKE THIS HUMBLE YET SIGNIFICANT LUXURY FOR GRANTED. KEEP THIS IN MIND: MR. SMITH WORKED FOR A YEAR AND A HALF TO PROVIDE US WITH A CONVENIENCE STORE SO THAT WE COULD BUY GOODS THAT WE REALLY NEED TO SURVIVE IN SCHOOL. BESIDES, WHEN YOU REALLY WANT THAT PEPSI, WHERE WOULD YOU GO? THIS YEAR THE STUDENT STORE, KNOWN AS THE MACE, WAS SOLELY MANAGED BY MEMBERS OF OUR SENIOR CLASS. THE DIFFICULT TASK OF MANAG- ING THE STORE WAS DIVIDED AMONG FOUR PEOPLE: TOM PEARCE CGENERAL MANAGERD, SEAN CULROSS CFRONT MAN- AGERI, STEVE SLAWSON CFRONT MAN- AGERI, AND STEPHANIE YENCER CBOU- TIOUE MANAGERD. WHILE MANAGING THE STORE WAS THE MOST IMPORTANT IOB, IT WAS NOT THE ONLY ONE. MEMOS HAD TO BE TYPED, AND PHONES HAD TO BE ANSWERED. THIS IOB WAS GIVEN TO BECKY EDMONDS, THE STORES SECRE- TARY. WHENEVER A PROBLEM WOULD ARISE AMONG EMPLOYEES, DORI MCAL- LICHER WOULD BE THERE WITH A KIND WORD AND A COMPROMISE. 'ITHE STUDENT STORE IS AN EXCELLENT OPPORTUNITY FOR SAXONS WHO WANT TO ENTER A CAREER IN BUSINESS AFTER GRADUATING FROM SCHOOL, SAID CHRIS WRIGHT, BUT I LIKE IT BECAUSE THE PEOPLE ARE GREAT AND THE CLASS IS FUN. THERE ARE MANY THINGS THAT PEOPLE LEARNED IN STUDENT STORE. THE PEOPLE WHO RUN THE STORE MUST LEARN HOW TO USE THE CASH REGISTER AND TAKE INVENTORY. THE STORE IS RUN INDEPENDENTLY BY THE STUDENTS WITH SOME HELP FROM THE DIRECTOR, MR. SMITH. THE STUDENT STORE IS DEFINITE- LY NOT ALL FUN AND GAMES. IT IS MADE UP OF MANY INTERESTED, TALENTED, AND DEDICATED PEOPLE WHO HAVE A VESTED INTEREST IN THEIR SCHOOL.
