.Lf -1 , K r 1, L L X .I-yr ,. Nz ' . ' 4.-9 TT 1-.- .- T ENTHUSIASTIC AND OUTGOING, THE 1987-87 I.V. AND FROSHXSOPH CHEER- LEADERS PROMOTED SCHOOL SPIRIT AT THE MANY ASSEMBLIES, GAMES, AND PEP RALLIES. THESE AWARD-WINNING SQUADS HAVE BEEN A GREAT CONTRI- BUTION TO OUR SCHOOL'S OUTSTAND- ING SPIRIT THIS YEAR. UNDER THE DIREC- TION OF MS. WARD, THE PEP SQUADS WORKED HARD AFTER SCHOOL, PER- FECTING THEIR NEW ROUTINES. IF ANY OF THE GIRLS WERE ASKED WHAT THEY RECEIVED FROM BEING IN CHEER, THEY WOULD SAY FRIENDSHIP AND A GOOD FEELING OF KNOWING THAT THEY'RE A PART OF THE SAXON SPIRIT. OVER THE SUMMER, THE I.V. SQUAD ATTENDED THE UNITED SPIRIT ASSOCI- ATION CAMP IN SANTA BARBARA. AFTER PUTTING IN HOURS OF HARD WORK AND DEDICATION, THE SAXON CHEER- LEADERS PROVED THEMSELVES WHEN THEY BROUGHT BACK SUPERIOR RIB- BONS, A TROPHY, AND A SPIRIT STICK. ERICA TUCKER, HEAD CHEERLEADER, COMMENTED ON THE YEAR BY SAYING, WE'VE WORKED HARD ALL YEAR LONG TO MAKE THIS I.V. SQUAD THE BEST EVER! YOUNG, BUT SPIRITED, THE FROSHX SOPH CHEERLEADERS, LED BY SHELLY THOMPSON, SHOWED BRIGHT HOPES FOR FUTURE PEP SQUADS. THEY RE- CEIVED THREE SUPERIOR RIBBONS, A TROPHY, AND A SPIRIT STICK FOR OUT- STANDING PERFORMANCE AT THE CHEERLEADING SUMMER CAMP IN SAN- TA BARBARA. SHELLY THOMPSON CON- CLUDED BY SAYING, BEING AN ALL- FRESHMEN SQUAD HAS MADE US WORK VERY HARD TO REACH OUR GOAL. I AM PROUD TO SAY THAT OUR GIRLS HAVE DONE A GREAT IOB. 178 IV Irosh-soph Cheer
