ADDING INTERNATIONAL INFLUENCE TO LOARA 'S CAMPUS WERE THE INTE RNA TIONAL CL UB AND FOREIGN EXCHANGE PROGRAM THIS YEAR'S EXCHANGE STU- DENTS AT LOARA WERE TRACY DOUGAL FROM ENG- LAND, MARIKO HA TSUI AND ME GUMI MOCHIZUK FROM JAPAN IA VIER RE Y FROM SPAIN AND ANNA TEMPERA FROM ITALY THEY CHOSE CALIFORNIA AND WERE PLACED IN ANAHEIM GIVEN HOST FAMILIES, AND WERE REGISTERED ATLOARA. AFTER BEING PLACED IN THEIR REQUIRED CLASSES, THEY BEGAN THEIR NEW ADVEN- TURE AL THOUGH MAKING FRIENDS WAS THE CHALLENGE MEETING MEMBERS FROM THE INTERNATIONAL CLUB AND LIVING WITH THEIR NEW FAMILIES WERE EASY WA YS TO MAKE FRIENDS AND TO ADAPT TO THEIR NEW WAY OF LIFE AFTER A FEW ADJUSTMENTS THEY BECAME MORE FAMILIAR WITH THE AMERICAN WAY OF LIFE: THE BEACH AND BIKINIS, DRIVE-IN MOVIES DISNEYLAND WlNCHELL'Sj AND ROCK 8 ROLL. FOR THEM COMING TO AMERICA AS AN EXCHANGE STUDENT WAS A GREAT WAY TO LEARN ABOUT DIFFERENT CULTURES AND MAKE NEW FRIENDS. UNDER MRS. KIMBLE 'S GUIDANCE THE INTERNA- TIONAL CL UB PROVIDED A MUL TI-CUL TURAL EXCHANGE FOR LOARA. THE MEMBERS ALSO HAD AN ACTIVE YEAR AS THEY TOOK MANY FIELD TRIPS AND HAD MANY FUNDRAISERS. THESE PROGRAMS HA VE EXTENDED OUR FRIENDSHIP AND UNDERSTANDING TO THE INTERNA- TIONAL LEVEL. II. The 1985-1986 International Club pro vided a unique experience of the foreign countries without being there ph ysicalhf. IZ. Mrs. Kimble reminds the students to have their field trip card signed for Chinatown. .3. Stephanie Baker smiles atter organmng the held trip. 4. Marilro Hatsui from Iapan enjoyed her stay in Amer- ICB. 5. Tracy Dougal said hnding special friends had made this year one she shall never forget 6. Megumi Mochilulf had a very rewarding experience this ear y . Z lavier Rey participated in many activities such as soccer. B. fb AMONG THE MOST SUCCESSFUL ORGANIZA- TIONS OF THE 1985-86 YEAR WAS THE POPULAR FRENCH CLUB. IT WAS COMPRISED OF APPROXI- MA TELY THIRTY ACTIVE MEMBERS MOST OF WHOM WERE STUDENTS OF MAOAME BRODYKS FRENCH CLASSES. SHE DEVOTED MANY LONG HOURS TO THE CLUB AND WAS DEDICATED TO HER STUDENTS. INSTRUMENTAL IN RUNNING THE FRENCH CLUB WERE VICE-PRESIDENT CHRISTINE BURROUGHS SECRETARY MIKE PROCOPIO, TREASURER FERRIS PAL AND PUBLICITY CHAIRPERSON CA THRYN BUR- ROUGHS. THEY PUT A GREAT DEAL OF TIME AND EFFORT INTO THE CLUB. CLUB ACTIVITIES INCLUDED A CHRISTMAS PAR- TY VWTH GIFT EXCHANGING, CULTURAL EVENTS WHERE EXCHANGE STUDENTS FROM FRANCE SPOKE ABOUT THEIR COUNTRY AND FUND-RAIS- ERS SUCH AS THE SALE OF IMPORTED CHOCOLATE ADVENT CALENDARS REGULAR CALENDARS AND LOLLIPOPS. AT THE END OF THE YEAR AS A REWARD FOR ALL OF THEIR EFFORTS THE CLUB WENT OUT TO DINNER AT A GOURMET FRENCH RESTAURANT 1. The members of the 1985-86 French club. 2. Madame Brody the French club advisor listens to a new idea for another fund-raiser. 3. Oblivious to all Lesley Friedland and Alison lser carry on a livehf conversation. 4. The 1985-86 French club ofhcers: Ferris Pai C Trea- surerj, Christine Burroughs tlhce Presidentj, Shan- non DesRoches CPresidentj, and Catherine Bur- roughs YPublicityj. Milre Procopio CSecretaryj is not pictured 5. Ferris Pai. Arianne Glagola, and Staci Miyagishima are proof that being in French club is a fun and friend-hlled activity. 6.
