BOTH TEAMS PUT IN LONG HOURS OF PRACTICE IN PREPARATION FOR RE- GIONAL COMPETITIONS. THE KIWANIS BOWL TEAM WAS LED BY FIRST- YEAR TEACHER AT LOARA, LINDA ESPING. THE TEAM MET EVERY DAY AT LUNCH TO PRACTICE AND STUDY SEEMINGLY ENDLESS STACKS OF CARDS FILLED WITH QUESTIONS ON VARIOUS TO- PICS. THE OBJECT OF KIWANIS BOWL IS TO MAS- TER TRIVIA OUE S TIONS FOR COMPETITIONS AND TO INCREASE ONE 'S KNOWLEGE THE ACADEMIC DECATHLON TEAM DID VERY WELL UNDER THE EXPERIENCED LEADERSHIP OF RUTH WILKOFF THE TEAM PLACED TENTH OUT OF FIF T Y-FOUR SCHOOLS WHICH COMPE TED. THE STU- DENTS WHO PARTICIPA TED WERE SENIORS CHO- SEN ACCORDING TO THEIR GRADE-POINT AVERAGE THESE MEMBERS SPENT A LOT OF TIME AFTER SCHOOL IN THE LIBRARY AND ROOM 64 S TUDYING FOR THE SINGLE BIG COMPETITION THE KIWANIS BOWL AND ACADEMIC DE CA THLON TEAMS ARE TWO OF LOARA 'S BEST I. 4 X so I age THE 1985-86 MOCK TRIAL ACHIEVED WHAT NO OTHER TEAM IN THE PAST HAD DONE' IT CLIMBED THE LADDER OF COMPETITION ALL THE WAY TO THE SEMI-FINALS. ITALL STARTED ON OCTOBER 9, 1985. A MOT- LEY CREW OF TWENTY GATHERED IN MR BAR- RON'S ROOM 65 FOR THE INTRODUCTION T O MOCK TRIAL, A CLUB SPONSORED BY THE CONSTITUTION- AL RIGHTS FOUNDATION TO DE-MYS TIF Y THE PRO- CESS OF OUR IUDICML SYSTEM THE T WENTY REMAINED IN THE CLUB, MAKING IT THE LARGEST AS WELL AS THE MOST SUCCESSFUL TEAM SINCE THE CLUB'S FORMATION FOUR YEARS AGO. POLICE SCIENCE HAS BEEN A POPULAR GROUP AT LOARA FOR MANY YEARS NOW CREATED BY MR. DOROSKY ITS PURPOSE IS TO HELP STU- DENTS BETTER UNDERSTAND THE AMERICAN LE- GAL SYSTEM AS WELL AS CAREERS NOT NECES- SARILY RELATED TO THE LAW TO INFORM THE STUDENTS, GUEST SPEAKERS WERE INVITED TO DISCUSS THE SPECIFIC GOALS AND INTERESTS OF THE CLASS. POLICE SCIENCE IS ALSO DEDICATED TO EN- RICHING THE CAMPUS LIFE IT PURCHASEDA NEW VCR AND SEVERAL BOOKLE TS CONCERNED WITH CAREER SUBJECTS OF INTEREST TO STUDENTS. 1. Uncle Barron wants You! - loin the Mock Trial Team today. Report to your nearest Room 65. You can make a difference. 2. The 1985-1986 Mock Trial Team of Loara is always ready for a picture. 3.
