four THE G.A.TE CLUB HAD ONE OF ITS BEST YEARS IN EXISTENCE THE LUNCH MEETINGS WERE A TIME FOR MEMBERS TO GET INVOL VED IN VARIOUS GROUP DYNAMICS ACTIVITIES. THIS YEAR THE CL UB PERFORMED VARIOUS COMMU- NITY SERVICES, SUCH AS VISITING THE BUENA VISTA CONVALESCENT HOME THESE VISITS WERE GREAT FUN AND UNDOUBTEDLY EN- RICHED THE SENIOR CITIZENS' LIVES. THE 1985-86 G.A.TE. CLUB HAD APPROXI- MA TEL Y NINE TY MEMBERS A FACTOR WHICH CONTRIBUTED TO THIS YEAR'S SUCCESS. ANOTHER GROUP OF ACTIVE STUDENTS ON CAMPUS WAS THE SPEECH CLUB. THE MEM- BERS GAINED AN IMMENSE STORE OF KNOWL- EDGE THAT HELPED THEM IN THEIR COMPETI- TIONS. MEMBERS PARTICIPA TED IN CONTESTS AT COUNTY STATE AND NATIONAL LEVELS HELD BY THE NATIONAL FORENSIC LEAGUE THEY ALSO COMPE TED AT VARIOUS LOCAL AS- SOCIA TIONS FOR MONETARY SCHOLARSHIPS. THE EXPERIENCE OF BEING IN THE SPEECH CLUB WILL INEVITABL YBENEFIT THE MEMBERS IN THEIR FUTURE PLANS. 1. The 1985-86 G.A.TE Club members. 2. Laurie Sparks fbottomj and Ramona White ltopj are happy editors of the Go-Gater, The G.A. TE Clubs hrst newspaper. 3. Eric Hsu hugs a senior citizen from the Buena Wsta Convalescent Center. 4. W fame mn LOARACS' ARTISANS HAD THEIR CHANCE THIS YEAR TO EXPRESS THEMSEL VES IN THEIR ART FINE ARTS UNLIMITED IS THE CLUB THAT MADE THIS POSSIBLE DUE TO THE NATURE OF THE ARTS, THE CLUB MEMBERSHIP HAS AL WA YS BEEN LARGE AND DIVERSE BUT WITH FEW ACHVE MEMBERS AT THEIR MEETINGS EVERY WEDNESDAY THE CLUB MEMBERS DISCUSS ART APPRECIATION AND PRE- PARE FOR THEIR PERFORMANCES. THE PERFOR- MANCES TOOK PLACE EVERY SECOND WEDNESDAY OF EACH MONTH THEY WERE GREAT OPPORTUNI- TIES FOR MEMBERS TO SHOW OFF THEIR TALENT AND CREATIVITY TO A REAL AUDIENCE THE OFFI- CERS1 MARAGRET LO, PETER LO MARCY KUO, AND IRENE PAL ALONG WITH ACTIVE MEMBERS SUCH AS SHAWN WISEMAN AND JAY MC OUILLIN OF THE MUSIC BOX TOOK ADVANTAGE OF THEIR CHANCE TO PERFORM ADVISORS MARGARET HERBERT AND IAN NELSON COORDINATED THESE EVENTS THE CLUB WAS ABLE TO MAKE MONEY AT FOOT- BALL GAMES BY RUNNING THE CONCESSION STAND. THIS MONEY WAS USED TO SEND MEMBERS TO THE SOUTH COAST REPERTORY THEATER TO SEE DICK- ENS' 'A CHRISTMAS CAROL AS WELL AS FIELD TRIPS T O SYMPHONY AND BALLET PERFORMANCES BUT PROBABL Y THEIR MOST OS TEN TA TIOUS UNDER- TAKING THIS YEAR WAS THE SPONSORSHIP OF THEIR SECOND ANNUAL INTRA-DIS TRIC T FINE ARTS FESTI- VAL IN FEBRUARY FINE ARTS CLUB MEMBERS FROM MANY SCHOOLS HAD A CHANCE TO PERFORM FOR MANY PEOPLE AT THIS GALA EVENT THE FINE ARTS CLUB HAS BEEN ONE OF THE MOS T SUCCESSFUL ON CAMPUS. 1. EAU ofhcers: VR Peter Lo, Treasurer Irene Pai President Margaret Lo, and Secretary Mercy Kuolq g 2. Margaret Herbert discusses architecture with the Pine Arts Club members. 3. lay Mc0uillin and Shawn Vwseman wait to be let in for one of their numerous performances as the Music Box. 4. The Hne Arts Unlimited Club in its entirety during the celebration of Beethoven's birthday. 5. Stooping low to concentrate on the lreys, Peter Wang performs for the Hne Arts members. 6. Michelle Mllroff playing the piano at one of the sec- ond- wednesda y-ofthe-month performances.
