SPIRITED AND DEDICA TED ARE WORDS THAT PERFECTLY DESCRIBE THE 1985 SOPHO- MORE AND FRESHMAN BASKETBALL TEAMS. BOTH THE SOPHOMORE AND FRESHMAN TEAMS NEVER GA VE UP THEIR SPIRIT AND HOPE AS THEY PRAC- TICED HARD. IN ADDITION TO THE TEAM'S SPIRIT THE TEAMS WERE STRONGLY SUPPORTED BY THEIR FAMILIES, SAXON FANS AND THE PEP SQUAD. AN IMPORTANT FACTOR IN THE TEAM'S GROWTH WAS TOGETHERNESS AMONG THE PLA Y- ERS. THROUGH THE COACHING OF TOM ME YLOR AND IERRY HALPIN SAXON PLAYERS WORKED AS A TEAM AND PLAYED A STRONG PRESSING DE- FENSE PICKING OFF REBOUNDS FROM THEIR OP- PONENTS. THE SAXON PLA YERS MADE A STRONG COMMIT- MENT TO WORKING HARD AT BUILDING A STRONG FOUNDATION FOR FUTURE BASKETBALL SEASONS.
