PROPI-IECY Whnle walkxng down the street one day m the year 1955 whom should I see dressed m a scarlet robe and a brxllxant yellow turban, but my old classmate Merrxllee jones Inqulrmg of her the reason for her garb I learned that she had dxscovered that she can foretell events She was now on her way to the home of Eugene Parr, the multx mxllxonalre who was ho'd1ng a receptlon that evenmg for some of h1s old frxends m honor of the world famous exp orer Bryce Mulllkm As I was gomg m the same dxrectlon, we fell to talkmg of our Lloyd class mates and what they were domg now To my surprxse I learned that Mary Helen Stephens IS runnmg a very successful grocery business at the corner of Locust and Cowxe Avenues m Er'anger I was glad to hear too that Jackxe Gleseke and Hattie Sxmpson are now partners and the Gneseke Slmpson Taxx Service, Inc, IS growmg lnto a very profitable orgamzatlon We soon came to our destmatron and who should open the door but jxm Holloman CHe made a very handsome butler J As we entered the reception hall we heard musxc bemg played by Maestro Robert Car roll and hxs All Glrl orchestra wrth Betty Ruth Moore as vocallst and Ruth Wllllams as the famous plamst Our host, Eugene Parr and hostess, the former Eleanor Bungenstock came forward to greet us and to mtroduce us to some of the other guests We met Wxlham Schuchart the head of a cham of hamburger Jomts Joanne Clarkson the successful movie star Sammy Neace and Leon Kelth the playboys of New York and Ruth Ann Klng author of the popular novel I Met I-Ixm In Sunday School Mxss Eva Rose Rzch the San Franclsco llterary crxtlc has pronounced It to be the greatest book of all txmes Over ln one corner I found two couples dlscusslng thelr past lxves Mr and Mrs D1ck Gower fDor1s Belew! and Mr and Mrs Glen Lmdeman CRuth johnsonj We learned that Dxck IS now professor of Englxsh at Harvard and Glen rs the romant1c leadmg man of Back stage Husband just then Muscles Bexser the wrestler, arrived and wlth him the woman sports commentator, Munel Dreyer At mldmght we turned on the radxo to hear Ralph Hoppmg s The Hollywood Hour and hls guest actress, Mane Buckley wxth her husband, Ray Swoonatra Herrxck, the song bird of the air James Mllton known for hrs book Purgatory Lost 'I was m the audxence wxth hxs charmmg fiancee Dorothy Wxegel Miss Rlder, fashxon expert for the New York Sun, saxd that Miss Wxegels hat, from the Dlshon Sisters fMxll1neryJ Shoppe, was the talk of the town Suddenly the radio broadcast was lnterrupted by a news flash Melvm Cramer the parachutxst by landmg on hxs head, narrowly escaped death when hxs parachute failed to open Hrs plane was being piloted by Test Pxlot Mary Taylor At the close of the radxo program, our host announced that he had been able to secure that popular dance team, Martm and Ashcraft who would entertaxn us at this tlme just then Barbara Longnecker, the outstandmg psychnatnst hurned m lookmg for her patlents Mlsses Bxllle and Bettie Fornash, who are under treatment for a nervous breakdown caused by the strenuous practxce necessary for their Jltterbuggmg routme Mxss Margaret Westermeyer was unable to attend the reception because she was workmg on the plans for the Westermeyer 4 789 576 an alrplane mtended for prlvate use It was now time to break up the party, so after fond farewells to our host and hostess we returned to our homes to spend a pleasant mght dreammg of old fnends 26 1 1 , . , . - Y A . . . . . - , , . .
