Spring Sports GOLF TEAM 1941 W gl l B Perkms Metcalf H Perkms l' Lucas N I 5 TENNIS Yelton D Cook Ammon R Cook johnson GOLF Our golf team mlght be called the lone rangers of our school as there has never been anyone who has acted as thelr coach Perhaps they dld not need a coach Playmg most of thelr games after school was out they won the Northern Kentucky High School Golf Tournament sponsored by the Kentucky Post Last years team was made up of the followmg boys Babe Perkms Paul Metcalf Harvey Perkms and Bully Lucas Harvey graduated but we hear there xs another brother ln that famlly who knows hrs golf also TENNIS Last year the tennis team won three out of four matches losmg only to Ludlow whom they later defeated ln a return match Ths vear with thelr 1 3 4 men returnmg thev are expected to be ln the thxck of the tournament fight The members of last year s team were Dlck Cook Forrest Penn Dlck Yelton Paul Ammon and Russell Chambers Thls years team IS composed of the followmg Duck Yelton Duck Cook Paul Ammon Ralph Cook and Harold john on O xo' If sf T , T A xkh' n 'V 'W' . Behind Every Team - - - CHEERLEADERS Txme was when people went to sports eyents and yelled what and when they pleased tmaybe they stlll dob but more and more our cheermg IS becomlng orgamzed just as all teams have adopted standard rules and reeulatlons so we are puttmg one system into our cheermg Cheerleaders have become as muc 1 a part of our teams as haye our coarhes and thexr job IS not an easy one They too must practlce contmuously umforms and transportatmon are not Thls year s squad was composed of slx regulars an l Jne alternate Of the seven fue are Semors Audrey Gray Eula Roland Alice Nleman Esther Petty and 'Vhldred Dietz Eleanor Lee Cook and Carolyn Mllner are left to stay on v.xth the four newly elected cheer leaders Let s keep cheermg I et s keep playmg America 3 COACHES. Football for 1941 Under the d1rect1on and SUPBYVISIOD of Coach Hank Cooper the Lloyd Iuggernaut football team captamed by Harold Johnson had the most successful season of any team that ever played at Lloyd Our first game was a conference game wrth Dayton whxch we won after a hard fought battle 12 6 The next Friday we traveled to jeffersontown for a non conference game and came back wnth a 210 vnctory Our thlrd and fatal game of the year was wxth the Highland Blueblrds who upset us 6 0 The next game we played host to North College Hull on a muddv field and after strugglrng through 48 minutes of mud and water we won 9 0 S0 the mud season ended with 3 wms and 1 los-. To start the seoond half of our season we tra veled to Dayton for our Hrst mght game of the year and trounced them again 18 0 Our next game was with Ludlow another mght game whlch we took after a bad start 19 0 Dxxle Helghts was next on the llst and fell 20 6 Reallzmg we had lost the Northem Kentucky Athletxc Conference tltle by one percentage pomt accordlng to the Dlckmson ratmg system establlshed nn the conference this year we played Bellevue a hard fought game and won 8 0 Thls placed us second nn the conference standing Also m the unofficial Northern Kentucky Confer ence otherwxse known as the Bxg Exght we won with a record of 7 wms and 1 loss johnson and Kuhlmg were plcked as alternates on the All Fast team and we were fortunate to have some boys picked on the all conference team johnson Ammon and Dudderar . . . .
