Steve Cormier Sell Out CAPONE Bankrolls Scholarship either snow, nor ice, nora day off from school could stop the production of CAPONE by the Bird faculty March 9, 10. The original script by director, Julian Porter starred staff members turned actors to benefit the scholarship fund. Through song and dance the story of Al Ca- pone and Chicago’s gang- ster roaring twenties era unfolded. After a stay in the big house, Al Capone (Dutch Schrotenboer), re- turned to resume his bu- sinesses in the area. Natu- rally, rival gangs had stepped in and now the fight began. Capone re- kindled his romance with Big Lil (MJ Shurlds) while the violence and political corruption peaked. Light p nce cot hearted fun and excite- ment along with night club scenes, and revival numbers, filled the three act play. Most strikingly amusing number had to be the Frankie shoots Johnny pantomime with the undertaker (Ed Jones) bringing the house down with his strut across the stage after the body. Be- low, a very excited stage manager, Judy McFar- land, Lynn Booth and di- rector, Julian Porter hold the ticket sales record to record the SELL OUT performance.
