Skyhawks Fire Up! lames leaped into F the air and illuminat- ed the back wall of the school. Throngs of stu- dents cheered and chanted, following the lead of the cheerleaders. Earlier in the day, members of the Pep Club had fervidly gathered wood in preparation for Bird’s first bonfire in seven years. Excitement and an- ticipation grew to an audible roar. As girls and guys threw boxes of spirit links to fan the flames, the cheerleaders worked the crowd to near- frenzy pitch as the football team arrived. “‘L.C. Bird is what?” ‘‘Red Hot!’ DECA managed to get the crowd’s attention but not outside with a bonfire. Their excitement was in the commons with fashion news. Hot or not? Find out whether you are or are nota fashion trendsetter with the fall and spring shows. FHA heated up the kitch- en during the year. Members decorated and prepared food for receptions and ban- quets. FHA members rea- died themselves for life after high school and kept the “home fires’? burning. FBLA joined tomorrow’s business leaders. Club mem- bers obtained business ex- perience by selling carna- tions on Valentine’s Day. FBLA’ers prepared to beat the heat of the business world. Talon Wraps ‘89 A Current Event udi Bitner ran through the hall, a huge en- velope flapping in her arms. No, she wasn’t trying out for the track team, she was making a deadline. When working with the year- book, deadlines come fast and furious, and turning pages in late can add up to beau- coup bucks. The Talon staff created a totally After seeing all those pic- tures, Kristi takes time to make a furry friend. St TALON new look this year us- ing overlapping layers and bars to accent pages in the book. Ac- tive staff members in- cluded Kristi Finefield, Angela Ray, Scott Schucht, and of course, Judi Bitner. In addition to the ‘‘after school” staff, the Jour- nalism II class helped with the 1989 TALON. As in the past, the main goal when designing pages is to make sure everyone who goes to Bird has at least one picture in the year- book.
