e 160 How do YOU spend your free time? ven though it feels like forever some- times, the six hours we spend at school are only a small part of our time. Everyone has differ- ent ways they spend the rest of their time. Some people use that time to make money at a part- time job. Many others find more fun ways to spend it. The surfers at Bird try to get down to the waves as much as possible. While they have to head to the beach to have their fun, most skaters look for the nearest wall, sidewalk, or just about anything else that doesn’t move! Per- forming difficult moves is a big part of skating, like Jon Johnston’s handstand atop his board. As with the skaters, freestylers can go just about any- where to have fun, as long as they have space. David Dunn shows his skill on a bike by balancing on the handlebars. Between school and fun, it’s hard to keep it all straight, but the students here at Bird seem to have perfected that balance — in more ways than one!
