Rain Shortens Season Doesn’t - — Spirits ith eight grade start- ers, the ju- nior varsity team began the season with a strong 186 win over Thomas Dale be- hind the pitching of Brandi Flanagan who struck out five while giving up only three walks. Playing a rain- shortened season, the team finished 2-4 District and 3-6 overall. Dana Gammon, shortstop, turned in two double plays in the game twice during the season to earn MVP honors. Teams Run For It inishing the season with a 6-2-1 re- cord, the boys’ team standouts were Spencer McElwee and Kevin Fa- gan. Spencer placed sec- ond in Districts in the 3200m run with a 9:54. Kevin placed in Districts and Regionals with a per- sonal best 51’ 2” in the shot and 141’ 2” in the discus. Other District placers were: Terrell Ox- endine, Franklin Moore and Land Matthews. The girls ended the season with a 6-3 record with Ka- ren DiSavino and Cam Phipps named team stan- douts. Karen captured five individual places in the District meet and ran on the 1600m relay team along with Debbie Shar- key, Ayanna Lane and Tracey Lucas who placed second in the Districts and sixth in Regionals. Cam Phipps, school re- cord holder in the shot, placed second at Dis- tricts. Other Regional qualifiers were: Shelli Mill- er, Angel Ingalls, Christy Hammer, Debbie Shar- key, Jennifer Dyson and Alicia Faggart. Perfecting his form on the discus, senior Kevin Fagan.
