Persistent Skyhawk defense is demonstrated as Cam Phipps aggressively guards her opponent. All eyes are on the ball as Cam Phipps and Kelly Perkins wait for the chance to rebound. In the running for a possible nomina- tion to the Naval Academy, Heather Brand excels off the court as much as on. Despite taking five honors classes, Brand carries a 3.7 grade point average. Team Improves, Wins! V Girls Basketball team was successful in the win loss area with a re- cord of 13-4. Coach Fullerton also congratulates the girls in the areas of personal growth and improvement. Co-cap- tain s, Susan Smith and Melissa Crouch are credited for the leadership given to the team. Smith was this year’s most valuable player, finishing the seaosn with 106 points and 80 rebounds. Shannon Whitman was recognized as Best De- fense while Amy Kuszmaul re- ceived Most Improved honors. Coach Fullerton commented Front: Karen Lee, Shannon Whit- man, Melissa Crouch, Susan Smith, Stephanie Smith, Carolyn Hensley. Second Row: Jen Kuszmaul, Mar-.; Tanya Wile, Amy Willingham, Ai- mee Kuszmaul, Martha Wall, Shelli that the team was great to work with since each girl con- centrated on improving the ba- sic skills of her game. Sky- hawks had little difficulty in se- lecting the most exciting game of the season. It had to be the come back win over Monocan in overtime. Final score 31-30 with each team member ex- hausted but very proud of the team effort. Games against George Wythe and Huguenot were forfeited since those teams were dissolved before season play.
