Golf Swings Past T.D., Clover Hill ‘This year’s team was a fine bunch of young men’’, commented Coach Julian Porter. Seniors, Larry Miller, Brennan McFarlane, and Barry Ellenberger, felt the most memora- ble victory of the season was over Clover Hill, which knocked Clover Hill out of the District Tournament. Greg Smiley said, ‘‘The best thing about the season was defeating Thomas Dale for the first time ever.’’ The best game of the season was recorded by Scott Marks when he shot a 36, which is one over par. “It was our best season and nobody expected us to go so far,’’ commented Ben Beach. With only three returning Starters, the basketball team finished the season with a 14-7 record. The team finished sec- ond in the District and ended the | season with a tough loss to. Hopewell in the Regional Tour- nament. After making it to the play-offs the team took out Douglas Freeman in the first round, only to be beaten by | Hopewell, the final state cham- pions. ‘‘Beach Fever’’ hit the crowd for the Tournaments with faculty and students bringing beach chairs, wearing beach clothes to the games. Co-Cap- tains Ben Beach and Bill Carno- han led the team in scoring with Ben averaging 24 points a game.
