First All-Southside District Catcher for girl’s softball: Lynne Gilbert. First Fall Sports Banquet was held: Dec. 18, 1979. First Junior Prom: May 11, 1979. First Fine Arts Festival: March 30-31, 1979. First class ring of L.C. Bird designed by Junior Class had the Va. State seal on one side and a Skyhawk on the other. First person to receive his ring: Johnny Wolfe. TALON’s first PATRON: Ruth West. Fall Festival Week: October 27-28, 1978. Fall Festival Queen: Lynda Stuck crowned at football game.
