We sponsored a baked food sale, sold decals, and bought our class pins. Our sophomore year began by having a bake food sale. We also sponsored a hayride and dance at which the tradition of unfavorable weather for all our projects was set. At the beginning of our junior year we elected Mr. Smith and Mrs. Dickenson as our class advisors. We celebrated the dawn of the space age with a sputnik record hop. After April, we served many dinners and luncheons. Our Junior Prom 's theme was Underwater Fantasy, at which a girl from Dansville was crowned queen. Since our class advisors both left Livonia, we elected Mrs. Keith and Mr. Huff as our new advisors. We were happy to receive the Hemlock Senior class as part of the class of '59 when the two schools combined. During our senior year we sponsored dinners, skating parties, and presented our senior play What a Life. Christmas in the Country' was the theme of our Christmas Ball at which Roxanne Harrison was crowned queen. In January and February the class sold magazines as the last of its major projects before the trip to Washington and New York. 8,-., N JQ 'XJ Best Lines Kathy Harder and Ward Hopkins Most All-Round Students if David Henry and Mary Alice Gocring Comedians Chuck Tenny, Charlotte Wester, and Paul Busch 'Uni Best Dancers 1X N - Roxanne Harrison and Bob Foote Most Likely to Succeed Janet Struble and Iviike Davis 49 Senror Class Wrll We, the Senror Class of the Lrvonra Central School, town of Lrvonra State of New York bemg of sound mrnd and memory do hereby acknowledge and bequeath as follows ANN BRIGGS leaves the Job as Presrdent of the G A A to anyone Just anyone ' ' PAUL BUSCH would lrke to leave the 1ce on the blacktop next wrnter to Davrd Huff and hrs hot bomb Qcar? 'me-ea A. is N. Q. ,,, James M. Wilson, Principal PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE Growing up is a most complicated process--isn't it! We all start life with our own particular set of genes and chromosomes. Then each of us has his own specific en- vironment in which to grow--his home, his school and his community. We are here--now! We already have within us those im- portant inheritable factors which we must accept and must develop. Our environmental factors will have to help us grow up. Of course most of us develop along pretty much the same basic pattern. We crawl before we walk and run, we make gurgles and noises before we speak words and sentences, etc. Important differences and changes then start to make themselves known and we begin the process of growing up. Recently a group of specialists in psychology, sociology, education and medicine, after extensive and serious de- liberations, unanimously agreed that if we have two good parents that love each other and love us- -we have the very best chance to adjust to adulthood with its contrasts of successes and failures, of happiness and un- happiness. Notice--no mention was made of whether we need be rich or poor. It is also agreed that if we have an adequate school building equipped with dedicated teachers, properly trained in sound educational philosophies and who have a real understanding of growing boys and girls as well as specific knowledge of subject matter--we have another very suitable environment for growing up. The people that make up your community and your school district have recognized all these facts and factors and have endeavored to furnish you with every oppor- tunity to have a good home and to attend a good school in a moral and religious minded community so that you may fully develop your inherited potential. Those of you who will take full advantage and make full use of this--your environment--will grow up--will be- come responsible, respected and happy citizens of your world. Do you recognize your part in this scheme? wt XXX 3 74 W'-We W'-'TA LEON VAN DER MEID X , STERLING ELLISON RAYMOND CONNELL BL1SinCSS Manager Xl Vice-Principal Grade Supervisor L ff nv LEE MELCHING and ELIZABETH JORDAN Secretaries 57 CHARLES MAY Superintendent of Schools FACULTY M' in XVX mai fl 58 M Turner Kindergarten A Carr K1ndergartenB, Mahone Kindergarten C Turner, Grade 1A Stoner Grade 1B E VanDerMe1d Grade 1C M Beach, Grade 1D J Bar nard Grades 1812 Hemlock F Hari-op, Grade 2A J Hopkins, Grade 2B A Pfistner, Grade 2C G Mlnnehan Grade 2D, A Snyder Grade 3A, K Cros sett Grade 3B M Huff Grade 3C M Short Grades 3:94 Hemlock B Duryea Grade 4A E O'Conne1l Grade I McSweeney Grade 4C B Springett Grade 5A J Downing Grade SB, A Backus Grade SC M Blank Grades 58:6 I-lem lock G.
