-aj! HH I f A uw ff X- if f gl Mt V 1 James M. Wilson, Principal Sterling Ellison, Vice-Principal, Elizabeth Jordan, Secretary. Leon S. VanDerMeid, Clerk e ale Z Have you ever noticed that sometimes, when you have really done a fine job or made a really worthwhile con- tribution of your time and energy, you have caused someone's face to light up--perhaps with gratitude and inner appreciation--perhaps with honest pride that you took that extra time and made that extra effort to do the job well --just for them? Sir Harry Lauder used to tell about an old Lamp Lighter he knew in Scotland. The old man would go from lamp pole to lamp pole at dusk performing his task. Sir Harry said The old man would be out of sight, but I could al- ways tell which way he went by the lamps he had lighted. It seems to me if we want to be successful and really happy with our work, we must do our job in a way to put light in people's faces. Do the job in such a way that, even when we are out of sight, folks will always know which way we went by the lights left lighted. To compile this yearbook is, for many of you, a labor of love. In it you have recorded in a visible and quite permanent way, the activities and accomplishments of your school days. It is my sincere wish that the knowledge and skill you have acquired, the qualities of character you have devel- oped, and the standards of citizenship you have practiced during your high school days made it possible for each of you to likewise record a praise -worthy volume of your life. May this book of your life be for each of you a record of service, success, and satisfaction. May it also record a long, long trail of lighted faces. Sincerely, James M. Wilson

The Board of Education of Livonia Central School is a group of five citizens of the community one of which is elected every year for a term of five years. This group meets once every two weeks to appropriate money for building expenses, maintenance, and teach- ing supplies, to pass on administrative policies, and to maintain a working staff. It has a variety of occupa- tions as it is the manager of a restaurant in operating the school cafeteria, a transit corporation in transport- ing the children to and from school, or a complaints department in hearing the various problems of parents, teachers and even pupils. For all of these jobs, though these people receive a salary of exactly nothing. They give their time and energy with no reward except that of seeing that the young people ofthe community re- ceive a well rounded education in a safe and pleasant atmosphere.
