Mrs. Muriel, Keith, Mr. Eugene Huffg Advisors SENIOR CLASS HISTORY The class of 54 began its 4 year tour through high school,by putting Mary Ann Wester behind the controls. Supporting her were Dick Drain as vice president, Nancy Long as secretary, and Rich Van Der Meid as treasurer. We coasted along for the better part of the year with more care on our studies than on money raising projects. The boys in the class led in sports as they were represented in football, track, baseball, and basketball. March was our first big stop, and here we began our dues. In June a class party with our ad- visor, Mrs. Short, ended our first part of the trip. Dick Drain was in the lead during our Sophomore year, and with the aid of Rich VanDerMeid as vice president, John Roome as secretary, and Fred Holmes as treasurer, the class began work in earnest to boost the treasury. Heading the list of social events for the year, were our Sock Dance and our class party. Choosing our class rings was in the line of more important busi- ness, while several bake sales and the dues kept the treasury expanding. Our Junior year was one of achievement under the guiding hand of Shirley Jenks 8: her assistant, Marlene Dieter. The purse went to John Locke, while the books and pencil were given to Judy Graf. Mrs. Keith and Mr. Gibbons filled the advisory position. Social functions for the year were in the form ot the Junior Prom, an 8th period record dance, and a Saturday Night Dance. More profitable business was the annual stationery sale, in which the class topped the 51,000 mark. Two fashion snows, a supper, and bake sales rounded out the treasury tu a large degree. Scholastic honors were also a big part of the year, with several members in the National Honor Society. Sports were well represented again for the third year. Our Senior year and last part of our journey down Education Highway got under way with Fred Holmes in the driver's seat, and Shirley Jenks ready to take the wheel. Nancy Panipinto chalked up the mileage, with John Locke still clutching the purse strings. Mrs. Keith and Mr. Huff were our advisors. The year began with the Senior Play Father Was a Housewife , directed by Mrs. Keith. Next came the Senior Ball Winter Wonderland . The class sponsored three dinners and went all out on the magazine sale. The long awaited day arrived, and the class and advisors set off for a five day stay in New York City. The class saw the Big City under the direction of the Van Zile Tours. While there the Taft Hotel became our headquarters, but all of us were glad to be back in spite of the good times. We reached the end of our trip as we walked up the steps and received our diplomas. It was awonderful four yearsl 23
