We have attempted to follow the course of the United States from the days of the explorers down to the modern day of atomic energy. We picture the Kindergarten as the Explorers. They are exploring a new world just being opened to them, A little afraid, yet eager for something new and different. The first grade are the Indians, a little wild, but learning to settle down. The second grade are the Pilgrims. They have entered into a new and strange world. They have really landed in a different place and they are now adjusted to it. Next are the third and fourth grades, they are pictured as being in the Revolutionary War Period, They are used to school now, but don't like to be tied down. They are reaching the independent stage and are revolting against the teacher's discipline. The fifth and sixth grades are pictured as being in the Civil War Period. They are aroused in new interests and are forming their own opinions on various subjects. The seventh and eighth grades are pictured as the period of settling the west and the Gold Rush. Yes, now they are settled down much more and want to broaden their intellectual scope. However, they are also rushing for new activities such as sports and music. This is their first grown-up taste of wealth in extra curricular activities. The high school is pictured in four periods-- The first we have depicted as the Gay Nineties. They are daring and fun loving, and ready for their high school venture. The tenth grade is pictured as the Roaring Twenties. They are wild, full of pep and at times shocking, yet they are wonderful and full of eagerness and enthusiasium. The eleventh grade are pictured as being in the Depression Period. Yes, they are having a hard time-one more year of school and final preparation for life work. The twelfth grade are pictured as being in the Atomic Age, They are bursting with vim and vigor and proud that they have almost completed their twelve years of school. R 'T We have pictured the Student Council as the Continental Congress. They are young in years and yet carry a lot of responsibility. They are making a good ' L, I attempt to run our school. The faculty we have pictured as being the U.N. They ' are separate individuals with separate likes and dislikes, yet they are all working for one common cause-to give the students of Livonia Central School a good education to fit them for their future. Supporting her were Dick Drain as vice president, Nancy Long as secretary, and Rich Van Der Meid as treasurer. We coasted along for the better part of the year with more care on our studies than on money raising projects. The boys in the class led in sports as they were represented in football, track, baseball, and basketball. March was our first big stop, and here we began our dues. In June a class party with our ad- visor, Mrs. Short, ended our first part of the trip. Dick Drain was in the lead during our Sophomore year, and with the aid of Rich VanDerMeid as vice president, John Roome as secretary, and Fred Holmes as treasurer, the class began work in earnest to boost the treasury. Heading the list of social events for the year, were our Sock Dance and our class party. Choosing our class rings was in the line of more important busi- ness, while several bake sales and the dues kept the treasury expanding. Our Junior year was one of achievement under the guiding hand of Shirley Jenks 8: her assistant, Marlene Dieter. The purse went to John Locke, while the books and pencil were given to Judy Graf. Mrs. Keith and Mr. Gibbons filled the advisory position. Social functions for the year were in the form ot the Junior Prom, an 8th period record dance, and a Saturday Night Dance. More profitable business was the annual stationery sale, in which the class topped the 51,000 mark. Two fashion snows, a supper, and bake sales rounded out the treasury tu a large degree. Scholastic honors were also a big part of the year, with several members in the National Honor Society. Sports were well represented again for the third year. Our Senior year and last part of our journey down Education Highway got under way with Fred Holmes in the driver's seat, and Shirley Jenks ready to take the wheel. Nancy Panipinto chalked up the mileage, with John Locke still clutching the purse strings. Mrs. Keith and Mr. Huff were our advisors. The year began with the Senior Play Father Was a Housewife , directed by Mrs. Keith. Next came the Senior Ball Winter Wonderland . The class sponsored three dinners and went all out on the magazine sale. The long awaited day arrived, and the class and advisors set off for a five day stay in New York City. The class saw the Big City under the direction of the Van Zile Tours. While there the Taft Hotel became our headquarters, but all of us were glad to be back in spite of the good times. We reached the end of our trip as we walked up the steps and received our diplomas. It was awonderful four yearsl 23 LAST WILL A D TESTAME T We, the Senior Class of the Livonia Central School, town of Livonia, State of New York, being of sound mind and memory, do hereby acknowledge and bequeath as follows: Juanita Phillips leaves her front seat in Mr. Gibbons room to Marcia Baker. Little SENIOR PROPH ECY The 1964 musical theme begins as the spotlight moves over the darkened audience. Everything is still until it comes to rest on none other than Mrs. Muriel Keith, owner of the Taft Hotel where she and Mr. Huff cater onlyto Senior Classes. With the sound of loud clapping behind her, Mrs. Keithis es- corted up to the stage to Mr. Ralph Edwards. This ls Your Life is under way for another broadcast. The first to enter through the archway is Mary Ann Wester, hailed as the 20th Century Rembrant. She explains that she has just entertained three former classmates, Nancy Marks, Barbara Bartlett, and Janet Rossborough at a tea. They could not come because all are quarantined while their children are getting over the measles. Just before the broadcast Anthony Muscarella, Naval Intelligence Officer entered the studio for this secret program in the company of Fred Holmes, owner of the Service Station Restaurants. His chief waiters, John Locke and Rich Van Der Meid tell us the reason for the name. When people eat there, they get gas. Elizabeth Smith, author of the best seller The Square at King Arthur's Round Table , enters with Betty LePome who is starring in the movie ver- sion under the direction of Fran Kosakowski. They have just arrived from the hunting lodge of Jack May where the movie is on location. Transportation to and from the lodge is provided by Juanita Phillips, lady pilot of the Global Airlines, and Shirley Reeser, Co-Pilot. More excitement as two members of the All-American Football Team, John Roome, and John McCellend enter. Mrs. Keith is surprised as her old class members make its appearance. She is even more surprised as Judy Graf, head of the famed L. C. S. Marriage Bureau, and her secretary, Joan Clarke enter. Also in the group is Shirley Jenks, Los Angeles school teacher. Dick Drain and Dave Barber are represented by their lawyer, John Parks. Both are in South America Building a bridge. Accompanying them are Nancy Panipinto, Marlene Dieter, and Marion Whitney, in charge of the medical part of the trip. They have just patenteda new bandage which goes inside the wound. Nancy Long, composer of the Pot and Pan Symphony, is the next guest. She is followed by Alice Phelps in charge of promotion of Mexican-American marriages. Behind these are Shirley Spencer, Metropolitan Opera Star, and Jane McCanna, instructor of dancing at Livonia Central. Rita Kurtz, manager of a French Travel Agency enters with Iris Wing and Anna Lou Hamlin, Life Cover Girls. Clarence flkej Orman, 1964 batting Champ- ion of the major leagues, linked arms with Irwin Jenks and Joe Ingerick, World Wide Sheep Ranchers, to greet Mrs. Keith. As the program draws toa close Ralph Edwards announces the usual prizes for Mrs. Keith - a year's supply offrozen foods from the plant of Mildred and Madeline Johnson. This gift was presented by Virginia Pursell, executive secretary of the plant. A charm bracelet of souvenirs from L. C. S. designed by Pat West, New York Jewelry manufacturers, and a new house from Bev, Backus, interior decorator of the new White House were added gifts. Again the theme, and as the cameras fade away the class moves up to chat over the old days of 1953-54 in L. C. S. Mike Marshall, owner of the Holly- wood Hotel urges the class to the taxis and on to the hotel.
