FEATURE Dr. King admonishes the class of 1965 in his speech, Your Own Little Lambarene. Grand Marshal Simpson leads off the academic procession with the President, the speaker, and the President ' s party. Commencement 1965 The crowning event of each school year is the commencement activities. The seniors are anxious, the parents are relieved, and the faculty are elegant in their academic attire. Last year Living- stone held its eighty-third commencement exercise with Dr. John E. King, President of Kansas State Teachers College of Emporia, Kansas. The faculty performs a tradition of com- mencement by providing an aisle for the graduating class to make their procession through.

FEATURE COLLEGE LANDMARKS Livingstone College has some points of interest which are unique to our campus and which have a special appeal to Living - stonians. All have a history of their own which places them in the fore-front of other landmarks on the campus. THE FOOTBALL MEMORIAL Unique to Livingstone College and outstanding in the history of sports events, The Football Memorial commemorates the first Negro inter- collegiate football game played in this country. THE GATES OF LIVINGSTONE The outer gates of the institution mark the beginning of the campus proper. To all Livingstonians, at one time or another, they constitute the gates of home. THE FREEDOM PLAQUE The only one of its kind in the world, the Freedom Plaque commemorates the heritage of the N egro ' s struggle for freedom. Created by Metta War- wick Fuller, the plaque was presented to the institution in 1963. The final resting place of the founder of the in- stitution, Price ' s Tomb, serves as a place of in- spiration to all Living- stonians. 17 THE TOMB OF JOSEPH CHARLES PRICE
