Text from Pages 1 - 80 of the 1955 volume:

The enchantment of four years of precious memories is envisioned as we coniure up the past. We are again the timid souls, who first entered these hallowed halls of knowledge. We knew not our purpose, but sought diligently to find them, inspired were we by the inimitable faith of loved ones, by the unselfish and patient understanding of the faculty, and by the striking disclosure that the desire for knowledge can only be satisfied with added knowledge. As we gained confidence in ourselves, our fears were arrested; our true potentialities realized; our sense of personal, social, and religious responsibilities made evident. Thus, we emerge as new creatures rein- carnated with an eager, hopeful outlook on life. We are now prepared to accept the challenge which life thrusts upon us. While our memories surround us, engulfing our very beings with nostalgic bonds which can never be severed, we leave the Livingstonian of 55, a diary of [oys, sorrows, accomplishments, and hopes, to the tradition of the college. May the pleasantly sad memories which it contains ever serve as a strange and kindly malady incurable to us and our posterity. STAFF AND SENIOR CLASS OF LIVINGSTONE COLLEGE PROUDLY PRESENT Seated: I. to r. David Armstrong, Assistant Advertising Manager; Martha Worth, Assistant Feature Editor; Floyd Gardner, Assistant Typist; Ruth Meningall, Assistant Photographic Editor. Standing: Carl Adams, Assistant Art Editor; Charles Aldrich, Assistant Sports Editor. Not Shown: Mary Garnett, Assistant Business Manager; Elsie Wactor, Assistant Circulation Manager. 3 D E D I C A T I O N ' 1 As we, the Senior Class of 1955, reminisce over our experiences in the past four years, our thoughts inevitably turn to one v ho has so diligently worked without reimbursement, and who has so conscientiously and unstintingly given of time, experience and wisdom. We think of one whose kindness, firmness and calmness has been a constant source of inspiration; one who has helped us assume our role as mature individuals; one who has had foresight enough to cause us to become aware of our responsibilities and duties to ourselves and our perplexing society; and of one who has skillfully guided and encourag- ed us when we were seemingly on the brink of despair. These attributes are indeed characteristic of our most competent advisor and friend, whose perseverance, loyalty and guidance have brought us thus far. Now, as we prepare to trod the unknown road of life with nimble feet, eager to reach our destination of success, we, the Class of ' 55, humbly and gratefully dedicate to Mr, Ozell K. Beatty this Livingstonian. o u R P R E S I D E N T The administrarion rejoices to know that each one of you have met the requirements for graduation here at Livingstone College.
