With Rosie Newman, President: Andy Taggart, Vice-President: Laura Lake, Secretary: Sharon Simpson, Treasurer: Roni Bills and Walter Molotch, Student Council members we started our activities with a dance. It was to be the first of our many ventures into the fine art of earn- ing money for our eventual trip to Washington, D. C. Our dance, which was presented in November of 1969, was The Turn of Scorpio with Buckley Daze's melodic sounds filling the auditorium and the surrounding three-mile area. Our next financial fiasco, in April of 1970, was the movie, Those Dar- ing Youn Men and Their Jaunty Jalopies at the Manor Theater. This flick was surely one of Holly- wood's finest spectaculars and sure to become a regular on the Late Show. Well, at least it made money! Again behind the whip in our sophomore year was Rosie Newman: vice-whip holder was Andy Taggart: Jere Curry was Secretary: Sharon Simpson still hoarded the money, and Joe Roslecki and Judy Miller were our Student Council representatives. In October we conducted a magazine drive, which turned out to be a very lucrative endeavor, because of the added incentive of . . . and if you sell 100 sub- scriptions you win a hairy foot rug. A dance which finished our tenth year activities was held in March with music by Commotion. we had a tough time deciding on a name but finally came up with . . . Metamorphosi.s. We were led to glory in our junior year by President, Andy Taggart: Vice-President, Mike Branning: Secretary, Laura Lake: Treasurer, Sharon Simpson: Student Council members, Wayne Eller and Judy Miller. We found that we had two new classmates, Ray Ward, who hailed from Liberty and Pamela Hoag, who returned to the Manor after a leave of absence in Connecticut. Our first money-making bonanza of the year was the 'Sadie Hawkins Hayride and Dance, which proved to be a big success. Then the big event came . . . class rings. Between Mrs. Jacobson's and Mr. Wlll's hoarse voices shouting, Bring in your money and the stupid questions that always arise like: What size is yours? What color did you get? How much . . . ? When do we get them? . . . The actual distribution was anti-climactic . . . they all look practically the same . . . Meantime we were involved in basketball concessions. Although we bought and sold candy by the truck load, it seemed as if the money we should be making was disappearing. The Ice Carnival came and went with Janet Hyzer reigning as queen. Her princesses were Donna Mil- ler, Laura Lake and Robin Schwartz. With the realization that we were still short of funds, someone came up with the brilliant idea of selling 'Pol1iwogs', the candy of course. The Honor Society Assembly was held in March. LuAnne Tuttle, Bonnie Houghtaling, Beth Stewart, Sharon Simpson, Rosie Newman, Jere' Curry, Charlie Coulter, Donna Miller, and Steve Levine were inducted. After the assembly, the Home Economics Department served refreshments at the reception held for parents of the Honor Society members. We held our junior play in March of 1972. The Games That People Play was the theme for our two one-act plays, Aria De Copa and Pullman Car Hiawatha. They were presented in the round. The theatre in the round was a new experience for the audience and for the class . Oh, yes, I almost forgot . . . we also sold the fabulous wonder soap . . . REX. We had almost as much fun selling Rex as we had selling Polliwogs. In the Spring of our Junior year we presented our Prom, The International Ball. It was beautiful. The band, Xanadu, played the theme Friends for the procession. Andrew Taggart was crowned King by Glen Carlson, and Margo Denman crowned Donna Miller Queen. Wayne Eller, Kevin Carlson, Deborah Cross and Judith Miller represented the Junior Class in the regal procession. Thomas Casey and Deborah Deas represented the Sophomore Class, and from the Freshman Class the representatives were Robert Hathaway and Sherri Davenport. Over the summer Wesley Davenport went to Boys' State, and Pam Hoag, who was our foreign exchange student, went to San Salvador, El Salvador. When we returned for our final year at L.M.C.S ., we found we had lost Linda Hardenburgh and gained John Roorda, and that we, the Class of '73, were the first class to have a senior lounge . . . until the snow came. Our last dance was appropriately called The Last Dance, with the band Drawn and Quartered. The reminders of We need more money and Bring in your dues became more frequent as the highlight of our four years in high school, the Washington trip, drew closer. Finally on October 25th we set out for Washington. Our chaperones for the four days and three nights were Mr. and Mrs. Gibson and Mr. and Mrs. Will. Also in October we struggled through the Regents Scholarship Exami- nations, which uncovered three budding geniuses, Rosie Newman, Beth Stewart and Stephan Menges. Our Senior Class officers were Judy Miller, Presidentg Wesley Davenport, Vice-Presidentg Laura Lake, Secretary: Mark Bachrach, Treasurerg and Wayne Eller and Walter Molotch, Student Council members. The yearbook, to everyone's surprise, got under way after a very slow start. How many deadlines have we missed? The Honor Society inductees for our senior year were Linda Young, Debbie Cross, Mark Bachrach, Mike Branning and George VanDunk. As the year draws to a close, we are looking forward to graduation, as both the end and the begirming of an important part of our lives. yi f 'W' f ' ' I I n I Prophecy JULES ADLER has replaced Jack Ackerley as the pillar that holds up Otie's bridge. The suitcases were packed into the bus with care, 'Twas Washington we were bound for, would we ever get there? The Seniors were nestled all snug in their seats, With visions of mischief and other such treats. It was 6 A. M. with the chaperones snoring And we all started wondering would the whole trip be this boring? When in the front of the bus there arose such a clatter, We sprang from our seats to see what was the matter. Away to the windows we flew like a flash And upon looking out. . . Philadelphia, at last! When what to our wondering eyes should appear. . . 'Twas the Liberty Bell, Independence Hall was here! The minutes flew by, it was back to the bus The chaperones and bus drivers started yelling at us. Now Wayne, now Jere now Sharon, now Roni! On Victor, on Andy on Judy, on Bonnie! Back to the bus! A11 the next day was spent on tour, We saw the Capito, Mt. Vernon, cathedrals, and more. We were dressed in our best when we went on our way To the famous Ford's Theatre to see Godspel1, the play. It was 6:15 when we got up the next morn, Mr. Gibson and Mr. Will were looking quite worn. They were haggard and tired and weak from the strain, But they were the best chaperones ever, not once did they complarn Saturday morning as tired as could be, Amidst the rain and the fog we waved goodbye to D.
