' 5,-ff' S421 Dear Seniors: At this time when you are about to complete your high school experience, there are more things than space will allow that I would want to say to you. This being so, I will ask six questions. These you must answer - each for himself. I hope that in these answers you will find my message to you. 1. How much value do you place on morality? 2, Have you appreciated your opportunities? 3. Are you mindful of the welfare of others? 4. Do you admire the truth? 5. Are you convinced that success requires work? 6. Do you think there is still more for you to learn? My very best wishes go with every one of you. Sincerely, Russell W . We were finally able to get across to the man he was one of usl Once again our sleepers were able to take a snooze as we passed the Legations and Embassies, when we finally arrived at the Episcopal Cathedral, we noticed Carol Vick marching up the aisle hum- ming, Here comes the bride, , . Since parts of Washington are very inspiring at night, we took a tour of the Lincoln Memorial, Wash ington Monument, Jefferson Memorial, and Washington National Airport. lt was at the Jefferson Memo- rial we all heard Tom O'Keefe grieve, Gee, I really do feel small now, It was also during this tour that Phyllis Hammer recited the Gettysburg Address standing at the foot of Abe's chair, Another humorous incident during this tour occurred at the airport. Our clown, Fred Krupp, while touring the dining room of the airport, passed a waiter loaded with chairs. Being equipped with gags on the spur of the moment, he immediately asked, Gotta match? Much to his surprise the perspiring waiter un- loaded his stack of chairs and started to dig, That's one for embarrassing moments, Fred, As the last night drew nigh, a party was held in Chief and Mums ' room, Coke was served and we exchanged incidents, all the while beating off sleep. It was also that night that Edie Welch became much dismayed when her two military escorts weren't allowed on Floor Seven of the Annapolis Hotel. At 8100 A, M, , the bus driver faced a bunch of exhausted seniors, who carried black rings under their eyes, heavy hearts and heavy baggage as they left for home. The waiters from the hotel looked a little unhappy as they saw us leave. Could it have been that they didn't have much to clear away from the tables after meals? In the line of food, that is, especially at the table where Floyd Emery ate, After we visited Annapolis and reached Philadelphia, one tour remained. Through half-closed eyes we had a glimpse of Independence Hall and the Liberty Bell. At Stroudsburg we had our last meal together, As l passed through the lobby of the hotel, I noticed a TV set which reminded me that the mystery of the TV set at the Annapolis was still unsolved! Oh well, that's one for the F,B, I, After a delicious meal we once again returned to the familiar seats of Bus 238 to resume sleep, As the bus pulled in to the Manor, everyone was awakened, Most of the ailing mumbled a word of thanks to Mums for her supply of pills and medicine, as quite a few had been ill, There were words of gratitude and appreciation for Chief, Mr. Welter, for being the most wonderful advisor and friend on OUR Washington Trip.
