Qs we CLASS HISTORY Four years ago on a fine September morning, the L.M.C.S. took on its deck a new crew for a cruise over Educational Seas. Aboard ship, Captain Welter took command of the new crew, which consisted of a large group of scholars. This bright-eyed group of forty-three sailors started out by electing their officers for their first voyage which were as follows: Margo Banks, President, LeRoy Hadden, Vice President, Sharon Ward, Secretary, Dolly Ward, Treasurerg and Gloria Switko and James Ayer, Student Council Representatives. In the next ten months, many new and strange events happened to the new seafarers. As they crossed the equator to higher seas, they had the traditional Halloween concessions which were the Penny Arcade, Hit the Pin, and the Bug Game. Next line we crossed was the Tropic of Cancer, where we had the job of producing the one-act play Butch, which we would rather not mention, let's say it practically sunk! At the tenth port we lost some of our gang, but we also took on some new skippers, who helped us swab the decks and keep things shipshape. During this year again, our worthy captain led us over smooth seas, and we once again had to be called to general quarters and choose James Ayer, Arthur Jones, Louis Kannegiser, Richard Krupp, Gloria Switko and Bill Newman to guide us over another year of smooth sailing. By the time we reached the Tropic of Capricorn, the captain informed us that at last the sunny season had approached, and it was our duty to provide for our passengers a Leap Year Dance, which kept all us swabbies swabbin'. Came 'our eleventh port and we all donned our life jackets. We jumped into our duties, which included electing our officers, who came along in a tug boat and towed us to safety the rest of the year, WOW! these were really a whale of rescurers, William Newman, Margo Banks, Gloria Switko, Honey Turner, Sharon Ward and Roy Hadden. When they came on board, the fish really started swimming. At last came the time when we could exhibit our theatrical talents and present the three- act comedy, Mother is a Freshman, which was a sea full of success. Came May 22, and we sponsored the annual Junior Prom using Blue Moon as the theme. After three years of rough currents, we anchored at our last port, where we were greeted with a tornado of struggles. As our first major project, we gave our mates the chance to attend another of our successful dances---the ever-awaited Sadie Hawkins Dance. Having done so well with our preceding stage play, we decided to clear the deck and give our underseamen the real benefit of our talents. Here Come the Brides was something that we will never forget---nor will anyone else! Boy, did we push the whales this time! With the completion of this four year voyage, we marched off deck and found our admiral, waiting to present us with our diplomas for worthy seamanship. - A e--i4'- 5'i---- A . in wi 1 w Q ff .11 .?fx?'Sisai:15' if W g 1 ,K x 7 Qi MS A s ,T 32224255 ,.,. 3 MH A-. 5 . LeRoy Hadden leaves his technique and business acumen to the advertising Staff of next Year's Manorisms. Agnes Ward leaves to Joe Baker all the headaches of a Senior Class treasurer. William Butch Walkerwicz, the local Mickey Spellane, leaves his volumes of literary efforts, unabridged to the school library. Q Sandra Colin leaves her most prized possession, a book entitled, How to Master Four Years of School in Three, to Bob Hathaway. Chuck flchabodj Dutcher leaves his coordination, dexterity and gracefulness of movement to next year's cheerleaders. Nancy Ardito leaves her quiet and unassuming ways to Ginger Colapinto. Lee Wells leaves with a surprised look on his face. Evelyn DeWitt leaves to Cookie Sarles and Florence Welch her everlasting secret of keeping her headdress a uniform color through the years. Arthur Jones leaves his best loved novel entitled Love 'em and Leave 'em to Bradley Baker. Leo Davis leaves nothing---he has nothing to spare. To Millie Whitehill, Margo Banks leaves her ability to find and hold a man. Evelyn Roser leaves to Pat Lare her remarkable composure at all times! Betty Ann Bergin leaves to Dolly Nelson her job of reporting school news. Louis Kannegiser leaves his gentle chuckle to Ioan Miller. Agnes Backman leaves her seat in the band to Mary Schleiermacher---We hope Mary won't have trouble filling ir. Sharon Ward leaves to Barbara Dutcher her beaten path to Liberty. Eleanor Hyzer leaves some peace and quiet in study hall for the school year 1954-55. THE LATE Honey Turner leaves---ON TIME! Gloria Switko and William Newman leave their best-loved record, A Fuedin', A Fightin' and A Fussin ' to Jo Ann Wheat and Dick Krupp. To the lucky teachers, we the Class of 1954, leave the noisy class of 1955 and a year's supply of aspirins. I 4945, af' S , M 4 40 S H ' 1 wp , f f wg f fb QQ, Wifi 1 652551 CLASS PROPHECY I never would have believed it ifit hadn't been right before my eyes in black and white, an invitation to Soap Box Colin's first trial. But, as I debated whether I should travel to the mountains or not, my mind was made up when I happened to realize that my fifth divorce case was coming up and Old Soapy might come in handy. As I reach the court house, the defense attorney meets me with open arms and informs me that my old pal, Ichabod Dutcher, is being tried for chewing bubble gum while baking pottery, incidentally this was the profession our bright-eyed friend studied for at Miami University. As I take my seat in the front row, in files the jury with Mrs. Leo Davis in the lead--we all knew her as Evelyn Roser, belle of the Class of '54, I guess Leo is home putting the car together, he still hasn't found second gear. Trudging right along behind Evie is Bubbles Switko, known as the Song bird of the Catskills. She even makes Ernie Lindell look sick. The remainder of the jury includes Butch Walkerwicz, who seems quite at home in a court room, since his last novel, The Jury is I was published, Another Juror is Art Jones, who achieved his success in discovering a new way to pick chickens with- out touching the feathers, Here too is Margo, who still argues sometimes with Earl, but argues with herself most of the time, Hearing the turbulent commotion coming from behind, I turn around just in time to see Evelyn DeWitt and Eleanor Hyzer swinging down the aisle. Upon speaking to them, I discover that they have achieved world-wide fame as operators of a unique kind of nursery, where the only inmates are 18 or over. I also learn from them that Dolly Ward is now living on Hoag's Hill and raising a lot of little Foagies, oops, I mean Hoagies. We learn that after Sharon Ward's graduation from Delhi, she made an extensive study on Fifty Ways to Use Stale Bread. It seems that our old Alma Mater's cafeteria budget had decreased, since O1d Stale Bread herself took over. Finally Mr. Welter arrives and the trial begins with the entrance of the prosecuting attorney, whom- we immediately recognize as Fearless Fosdick Newman. We now rise, as Judge Kannegiser, better known to us as Big Ace, enters with his usual blood -curdling smile. The court stenographer, a buxom, six -foot blonde enters--wait, she looks fairly familiar! Yes, it is Nancy Ardito! What a transformation! I guess it's that new cereal, We make them pop. Lou calls the court to order, and the first witness, Mr. Windy Mears, takes the stand. Windy is doing his best to defend Dutch, but he never was a good prevarlcator. George is a good example of the fact that you can be a good lawyer without being a good liar. After extensive examination the second witness takes the stand. All that our old friend Aggie can say is, Chuck always did like bubble gum. In case you haven't heard Aggie is now married and has three little clarinetters, After a trying day of court procedures, I am relieved to see the trial finally draw to a favorable close. As I turned to congratulate Son on the winning of her case, I bump into a reporter who is laden down with a camera and flash bulbs. Yes, Betty Ann Bergin, always was a pretty flashy kid. Among the unfortunates who can not attend are Lee Wells and LeRoy Hadden, It seems that Lee has been out of circulation for the past three weeks---a plug of tobacco became lodged in his throat! Roy got wound up in a cable on his latest construction job, and when last heard of, he was trying to get the cable off him and on fo the bridge, Yes, I guess it was worth my while traveling to the Catskills!
