M tory 010014 at U5 HON the Class Of 1951 you may wonder how we ever got past Kzndergarten But you d be surpnsed' What wxth a class full of wxllmg cooperatxve people how could we help but get ahead? Y! It was a wonderful world when we realxzed that we were at last Freshman In QQ rf V' hmgh school We were faxrly burstmg wxth ambltxon and enthuszasm We started the school year off w1th a new home room teacher and class adv1ser Mr Graves and two new classmates Mary Dayton and Donald Llndsley After electlng Margaret Owen presxdent and Phylhs Husch v1ce presxdent we set to work our fxrst real project belng the Halloween concesslons We spent a great deal of txme on them but we were pald off very nlcely for our efforts Realxzlng our poss1b1l1t1es we undertook a dlnner for the Amerxcan I.,eg1on QM Surprrsmgly enough no one got ptomame poxsomng or any other after effects so ,fx we felt we had reason to be proud of ourselves Txme sllpped by qulckly durlng our Freshman year and before we knew xt we were Sophomores We were agam honored A to have Mr Gr ves for our home room teacher and adv1ser V1ncent Munhall 4 became our president and Danny Krupp our vlce presldent Wxth our sp1r1ts f st1ll soar1ng w agaxn tackled the Halloween concesslons with the same 6 X fme results as xn the prev1ous year Wxth th1s beh1nd us we attempted our Q A I fxrst class dance ' The Sophomore Shxndxg Havlng experxenced a llttle begmner s luck' wxth the dance we were then ready to attack the dramatxc fxeld We were gomg to present a one act play 1n assembly ent1tled Elmer It was the fxrst t1me we had done anythlng of th1s sort but 1n spxte of a few stage errors and falllng flreplaces the audlence took It mn themr strlde and we were ready to face the oncomxng year wlth no great fears Just as Mr Graves had suspected he ended up as our home room teacher and advxser for the th1rd consecutive year whlch promrsed to be a full and excxtmg one Wxth Arthur Ward and Phyll1s DuMond as presxdent and vxce presldent respectwely w began our soczal act1v1t1es of the year wzth our annual class dance a Thanksglvxng affalr whlch we called the 'Turkey Trot It drew a good crowd and kept our reputatxon up for class dances Wlth all of our talented characters and we do mean th1s lzterally we made plans for a three act play After much dxscusslon we chose Professor How Could You 7 Naturally lt went off better than we had antxclpated Ah' Yes Sprmg was just around the corner and we found ourselves m the mldst of decorating for our .lunlor Prom As It was customary to elect a Prom Kxng and Queen we turned V1ncent Munhall and Margaret Owen mto royal personnages for the evemng lt was beautxful szght the Kmg and Queen sweepmg down across the floor of our 'Make Belxeve Ballroom ' the soft whxspers of musxc touchmg the a1r ah yes a beautxful sxght mdeed Fmally the b1g day came we were Semors' How good rt felt Smce we were a etty wrld bunch by th1s t1me It was thought wxser to have two advxsers conse quently M1ss Bryan came to our ald and we moved to new quarters rn the Lab What a year th1s turned out to be fxrst a most successful Eastern Star dxnner then our three act play M1dn1ght followlng th1s the Chrxstmas Alumm dance then our yearbook then that wonderful Washmg ton trlp all topped off by commencement and graduahon What a year xn fact all four of them Gee wouldn't xt be fun to do xt all over agaxn Z3 Q gb I , l . gil - - f I ' ' ' J! f tie' '.
