MR. R. W. LYON Principal IIIIII 'xxxkix' Our founding fathers, during the time that they were deciding the basis of the government of our young nation, wisely decided that ours should be a government of, by and for the people. They also concluded that, in order to have government by the people, it was essential that the voters should be educated, wise and informed. Thus was the idea of our educational systemborn. In order to have a strong govern- ment it was necessary to have a strong educational system. Now, over one and one half centuries later, we find our school system strong, vigorous and unique among nations. Our country has more people going to school for more years than any other. This is the foundation of a democracy, and certainly our democracy must have afirm foundation which mustbe strong and active in these years. Our school is proud to be part of such an educational system. This year we are using our two new buildings for the first time. Classes in these buildings round our curriculum in the vocational and avocational direction. It is in these new buildings, as well as the others, that we hope to train young citizens who are informed, capable and healthy in mind and body. aue Lagoa! 1,45 in our growfd av ave
