Spring time, dewy grass and flowers, Summer with its warmth and showers: Autumn with its frosty nightsg XY'inter days of dazzling whites. Spring: Like the sunburst of morning O'er forested-ridges and icy peaks: livery plant, fresh leaves adorning, Throbs with life as the sun it seeksg A fairyland touched with sunbeams, The song of birds, melodious and gay, The roam of swift and splashing streams And dashing falls with irised spray. Surnm:r: Wfhen in silence the forest lies And shimmering heatwaves cover the land: W'hen ehipmunks seurry and dry dust flies: Lazy lizards glide o'er rocks and sand: The once green grass lies brown and dry, AAA M 9 ERRAS Plants and trees drop wiltcd leaves, Silent birds, with outspread wings, eye The boughs that stir in the gentle breeze. Autumn: XVhen motionless stand cone-laden trees Their spicy fragrance filling the airg 'Tis then the bear, sniffing the breeze, Hastens to search for his winter's lair: The gigantic crags and groves of pine, too: Rocks, streams--each inch of land and sky Seem painted every tint, shade, and hue, lly some unknown talented Artist's hand, Winter: The peaks seem marble, snowy-white: And bending branches of trees and brush Are loaded with fairy bloom, fluffy-lightg Rivers, as if now asleep, no longer rush Then we hear the crested quail's song Breaking the silence of hills and valleys below: But shadows creep: blue, spilcey, and long, Across the rosy flush of sunset on the snow. -Emlce Horinc
