Aw We started our sophomore year with twenty four members In place of Merlyne Best, who transferred to Staunton High School, we received three new mem bers They are Riva McCray, Carl Brave, and Laura Jean Schneck Before the second semester had ended, Rtva McCray moved to Greenville, and Bobby Jones moved to Edwardsville At the beginning of the second semester, Norman Salter, formerly of Madison, Illinois, entered our class Jeanette Heinz, being the only sophomore can didate, was crowned the new Queen of 1949 50 Richard Sandrin was her escort The other sopho more members who participated in the Fall Festival were Richard Vesper, who served as a crown bearer, and Bobby Malench, who served as Master of Cere monies Arthur Heinz took part in a play The following are the class officers elected to serve during the year 1949 50 President Richard Sandrin Secretary Treasurer Leona Krivan Miss Stiritz is our class sponsor Jeanette Heinz and Fred Highlander were elected to the Student Council Maridel Nixon was chosen as class reporter and Assistant Librarian Boys who participated in basketball are Bob Malench, Richard Sandrin, Frank Urekar, Robert Heinz, Arthur Heinz, Richard Vesper, Herbert Harms, and Robert svans Many of the sophomore girls 1oined The 'uture Homemakers of America club Those holding office from the sophomore class are President Leona Krivan Treasurer Naridel Nixon Reporter Dolores Fech Other activities in which sophomore members participated in are the class play, Glee Club, and Pep Club 17 Vice-President ------- Arthur Heinz I' 14 H 0
