A. ... ,,........, .a..... ...,,.-,.-,.,., f xl By the unusual on November 20, it being made for some FALL QT' VN' g A r.GsJ..J ..-l .rj :J 948 1949 activity going on at Livingston High was evident that preparations were outstanding event. The event??? The FALL FESTIVAL! The preliminary factor was the choosing of candidates for queen by the students vote. From the day candidates were selected the work began. Tickets were being sold, committees were organized, and other plans were being completed. Then at last the big moment arriv- ed. It was T-H-E Saturday that all had been waiting for. This was the time when a new queen selected by a majority vote would rule. At approximately 6:30 the crowd began to arrive and by 7:00 o'clock there was little space vacant. At this time several students displayed their talent at piano playingg some playing popular music while others played, classical. At 7:30 songs were sung by a girls sextet followed by selections from the entire Glee Club. This was followed by a one act play entitled nThe Surrey with the Fringe on Top directed by Miss Smith Immediately following this the Glee Club sang a few more selections this again being followed by a short play It was titled nOf All Thingsn and was under the direction of Miss Kipp ing Bingo was played immediately after the program was completed Many groups gathered in the Home Economics, room where an excellent variety of lunch was served At exactly lO OO the cornation ceremony began with lancy Sievers as Mistress of Ceremonies and Glorlan Freu nd as pianist The procession began with the entrance of Miss Albina Brun, Fall Festival Queen of 1947 48 She was attired 1n a white gown partly covered by black net Her attendants were Carol Puto and Judith May Judy wore a melon covered gown and Carol was dressed in yellow sat Following Carol came the fourth gift bearer, Miss helen Tsupros, escorted by Raymond Torry Third gift bearer, Miss Betty Benardin was escorted by Jack August ine Both Helen and Betty wore aqua gowns Miss Anne Perne, second gift bearer, escorted by Richard Meyer, was attired in a light green gown First gift bearer, Miss Ruth Douglas wearing a dark green gown was escorted James Dumont Following Ruth came the third Maid of Hon or, Miss Catherine Spudich, escorted by Franklin Wargo She wore a gown of white satin The second Maid of Honor was Miss Donna Buck, her escort being Udell Ulrich e was attired in a fuchsia satin gown Escorted by Richard Teeske and wearing a white gown came the first Maid of Honor, Miss Jacqueline Smerk Last but not least came our new FALL FESTIVAL QUEEN, Miss JOANN SCHWARZ She wore a yellow gown and carried a bouquet of yellow chry santhemums Her escort was Robert Moggio After the ce remony the queen and her court retired to the gym for the first dance, and this was followed by dancing until mid right This concluded the Fall Festival of 1948 49 1-H ll in. . by ' .
