They were no longer freshnmn so they didn't have to take the upper classmen's 'digs.' Rollin Peterson moved to Hartford after the first semester, so the sophomore class now has nineteen mem- bers. Quite a few of the sophomores participated in the 1948 Fall Festival. Those taking a direct part in the ceremony were: Jack Augustine and Ray Torry, who were escorts, and Carol Puto, who was an attendant to the re- tiring queen. Marlene Smerk, Nanette Perne, and Georg- iana Vesper took part in a play and Leonard Graiff was in charge of the public address system, The sophomore Home Economic girls also did their part by working in the kitchen and selling raffles on cakes, pies, and cookies. Our class officers elected for our sophomore year are: Pres1dent....... ....Leonard Graiff Vice President Patsy Healey Secretary Treasurer Patty Meyer Sponsor Miss Kipping Carol Puto and Ray Torry were elected to represent the sophomore class on the Student Council Nanette Perne and Leonard Graiff were chosen as class reporters After much campaigning and fast talking, an election was held in the assembly to decide on cheer leaders Two were chosen from the sophomore class They were Nanette Perne and Patty Meyer Ray Torry, Richard Suhre, Leonard Graiff, and Joe Urekar were the only boys who went out for basketball this year Other activities in which sophomores took part are the Glee Club, Pep Club, and Latin Club took a trip to St Louis to see which was on exhibit It was very even those who don't appreciate or type enjoyed it very much Many visited the Jefferson Memorial and the Berlin Art Display interesting to see and understand art of this of the students also portions of the zoo Our play this year, The Custers' Last Standn was under the direction of our new sponsor, Miss H Kipping sig Z f Y iccfg W Q 5 M ff ,, CD M ywwtqxkmx N 4561 1 2 f , m 7211112-5T.lf a . 5, f 'lf wx 5:5 I ,, K A J
