Mrs. Stella Oleksiak, the program's coordinator, encourages students to explore various topics through special projects. Students participate in a unique research program without the usual restrictions while they develop initiative, self-discipline, decision making and resource skills. They are offered formal evaluations of their projects, and they gain the personal satisfaction of individual achievement, although no formal credit is given. LIBRARY The library's 25,000 volumes support students and faculty in many ways. They contain background material pertinent to current curriculum as well as reading material for enjoyment. Recently, the paperback collection of fiction has been expanded to broaden the range of popular reading. ln addition to books, the media center contains audio visual materials of value to researchers. But the vital link between students and resources is the librarians themselves. They play a major role in term paper projects for juniors and seniors. By compiling lists of useful sources and teaching classes how to use the sources to the best advan- tage, the library staff is invaluable in helping students develop research skills.
