MUSIC The Livingston High School Music Department of- fers students various opportunities to use their tal- ents and to learn concepts of music. Specialized courses such as theory, music appreciation, and sight singing, as well as individual instruction in voice and various instruments, are available for students who wish to further their musical education. For the past two years while under the direction of Miss Jacqueline Washack, the vocal and choral sec- tion of the Music Department has grown tremen- dously in size and strength. ln addition to the two rapidly growing mixed choruses led by student con- ductors Adrianne Torrisi and Cindi Stanger, there is the special choral group Something Else , com- posed of specially selected students. Mr. Wayne Brotherton, a new member of the high school staff, heads a talented and diversified instru- mental department. In addition to the marching band led by drum major Lance Siegel, there are other groups in which serious instrumentalists parti- cipate: the concert band, the stage band, the per- cussion ensemble, the orchestra and the flute en- semble. With a group of talented teachers and stu- dents, this department provides a variety of musical enjoyment for the school and the community of Livingston at large. r tv Music produces a kind of pleasure which human nature cannot do without. -common MR.
