GRAPPLERS SCORE WITH INDIVIDUAL RECORDS The Lancer wrestling team completed their 1980 season with a 4-11 record. This losing re- cord, however, was not indicative of the grappler's achievements. Under Coach Valentine, the team lost five matches by five points or less and, in addition, won the last three matches of the season. Highlighting the year were the Lanc- er's fifth place finishes in the Seton Hall, Dover, and District Tournaments. Outstanding individual records characterized the Lancer season. Co-captain Mark Friedman 11015 compiled a 15-9 record and placed second in the Seton Hall Tournament. Mark holds the record for wrestling in 42 consecutive dual matches. At 170, co-captain Frank MacArthur compiled a 17-3-1 record, placing first in the Se- ton Hall Tourney, second at Dover and third in the Districts. Leading the Lancers, senior Harry Neu- gold had the most outstanding record on the team 121-45. Harry holds the team record for pins 185 and most team points 1705. Other record hold- ers were seniors David Fisher 11485 who recorded the most escapes 1115, and Jeff Pichat 11295 who holds the team record for the most reversals 1145. Heavyweight senior Dan Danckwerth, one of the Lancer's superb individual performers, re- Harry Neugold took first place in the Seton Hall and Dover Tourneys and second place in the Districts. corded a 10-5 record and, in addition, amazed the fans and his teammates with the fastest pin of the year at 42 seconds. The underclassmen further exhibited the Lancer strength. Junior Steve Molinaro 11085 with a 19-7-1 record took first place in the Dover Tourney and the Regions. Steve has the honor of being only the second wrestler from Livingston to win first place in the Regionals. Jon Taylor 11585, a junior, should also lead the 1981 wrestlers. Jon's second place finish in the Dover Tournament demonstrated his fine skill. Certainly, graduating seniors Friedman, MacArthur, Neugold, Fisher, Pichat and Danckwerth will be missed greatly, but Coach Valentine hopes the team will see improvement, and experience a fine 1981 SGSSOTI. Get psyched, Lancers!!!

ICEIVIEN ARE STATE C The Livingston High School lce Hockey Team completed their 1979-1980 campaign as state champions with an outstanding 19- 6-1 record. The champs finished second in regular league play to a tough Brick Township team. Despite being eliminated in the semi- finals of the Gordon Cup Championship, the young Lancers came through in the finals of the State Tournament to finish as the number one team in New Jersey by defeating Brick Township 1-O in a pressure-packed sudden death overtime. Under the direction of Coach Ed Purdy and assistant Coach Norman Shayer, the Lancers again displayed their superior skill by capturing the Christmas Invitational Tournament as well. The victors were led by captain and leading scorer John Be- atrice, named to the first team All-State, as well as alternates Dennis Maloney and Carl Scillia. Leading the scoring attack for the Lancers were league top ten scorers senior Scott Whitman and sophomore Don Julich. Addi- tional consistent scoring came from juniors Dave Goret and Jeff Peacock as well as sophomores Joe Tracey, Keith Simons, and Brad Zipper. Maning the defense for Livingston were senior Carl Scillia, junior Lon Schaeffer and sophs Brad Whitman, Mike Wolfensohn, and Mike Derecky. They combined with goalies Jim Mair and John Scillia to give the Lancers a more than formidable defense. With eleven players returning, the Lancers have every reason to believe they will be a top team once again next season. HAIVIPIGNS First r0W1 Brad Zipper. Mike W0ifeI'ISOi'1I'I, Jeff PCBCOCK.
