, h HIAWATHAN Published by Liverpool High LIVERPOOL, NEW YORK LIA v 0 At home To achieve a spirit of concord in any group, it is necessary to have a co-ordina- tor who will enlist the full energies of the people to accelerate our development. The quiet manner of Mr. Wilcox has made him a well liked and respected individual. His methods of dealing with students and facul- ty each day are a credit to his sound judg- ment and integrity. Every day he super- vises school activities and maintains disci- pline in a fitting blend of authority and understanding. The ability with which he handles his job makes it difficult to realize how big it is. It is with pride and appreciation that we dedicate this our 1967 HIAWATHAN to John E. Wilcox. rincipal At work rM'W'F'WW5 '5 'it,m wt Wy,-33,21-g-w5,:gtf:,-V .i ta-.Q fm,..,i.2fy,L,,Qi yi.. Freshmen, Sophomores, ,lu'niors, and Seniors had to prepare themselves for the task ahead-the establishment of a united student hotly. Everyone looked towards a broad horizon asking not what Liverpool could do for him but what he could do for Liverpool. The new Faculty captured the imagination of the student, challenged the powers of his mind, and gave him the tools for progress. The Student reached for a better school life as knowledge was placed within his grasp. As we develop our theme Alliance for Progress you will see how administra- tion, faculty and students have It is our hope that the type of and an even broader citizenship of ill!l!?ifi?? , V .. .--e. . 2 f ? r:vfg'jsvg '!f .M-, wil l ' ' if it W its S eiiti 1 Q fe 1 i , Principal John Wilcox Associate Principals Walter Garner Richard Gates David Siegel This year, the faculty and students have formed a real alliance to make the best of a very difficult situation. Through mutual recog- nition of the need to utilize each precious min- ute to its fullest, there has been a genuine co- operative effort by both teachers and students to maintain a sound educational program. The opening of the new high school was a thrilling experience and one none of us will ever forget. We also have many memories, both pleasant and sad, of our years in the old high school, but the move is an indication of the progress that is an inescapable part of our way of life. We hope that your experiences in Liverpool High School have helped you to make the aca- demic and personal progress that will allow you to completely fulfill your aspirations. r.N 1'-' 5. 3 yn F. .v ,. w , :ff-Vg -. ff 3. Three years ago we brought forth on this Liverpool High School a new Class, conceived in imagination and dedicated to the proposition that all Senior classes are not created equal. The Sophomore year was a good place to begin to prove that the Class of '67 would be a memorable one. Our first officers were: Jack Williams, President Cheryl Bentsen, Secretary, Gigi Broadwell, Vice-President, and Dick Cay, Treasurer. Our first Homecoming float developed from an old boat trailer and We were certainly proud of our c'Victory . We built a booth for the Country Fair with the theme Little Old Wine Makerf' It was a very exciting year for us and we already had begun to leave our mark of distinc- tion as the great class of '67. Our Junior year brought us to elect four more class officers. Gigi rose to be our President, Rick Hess our Vice-President, Mike Calo, Secretary and Dick our Treasurer again. Homecoming was a very important event for us that year. We won first prize with our Warriors a-Co-Go and our Liver- pool Warrior could be seen for blocks as he danced down Third Street in the Homecoming Parade. A small tent proudly displayed the great year of 1967. The HIAWATHAN, edited by Kathy Woods, took the theme Route '66. We all exalted one of Liverpool's best yearbooks. For our Prom, we produced a spectacular Tahitian Paradisew. Under a soft and Warm glow of colors, many Junior couples danced happily among tall palm trees and fountains. Yes, We had then definitely left an irrevocable mark of distinction with our achievements. Q , .3 C . ji bt 'Q ,W C f 2 M 51 LE s Q-ya M., , x My Q. if Q.. 'i September ,66 came and again brought with it the old Liverpool High building and split sessions. We didnit mind though, as we anxiously awaited the opening of classes in the new building. We very sadly realized we were the last Senior Class at the old L.H.S. but then happily realized we would be the first graduating class from the new L.H.S We elected class officers for the third and last time. Chris Pinto became our President, Kathy Woods, Vice-President, Debbie Howland, Secretary and Colleen Burke, Treasurer. Homecoming was another exciting event as we displayed our new school ring on our float. With a diameter of six feet and the theme Ring Out the Cheersn we happily won second place. Debbie certainly made a very lovely Homecoming Queen. After Christmas we made our 'cbigv move from the old high school and welcomed our new ultra-modern institution of learning. The Senior Ball in May indescribably beautiful and the picnic held the following day completed a perfect weekend. Yes, we left a deep mark of distinction in the history of Liverpool High School. Then we engaged in a great realization, testing whether that class, so conceived and so dedicated, could long endure the new life ahead. We met on the great battlefield of that realization on our graduation night. We came to dedicate a portion of our learning to the final resting place of L.H.S. for those who gave a portion of themselves so that our institution might live. It was altogether fitting and proper that we do this. We hope that L.H.S. will note and long remember what the Class of 1967 accomplished here, as we depart for our own separate ways. But, it is for them, the many Senior Classes to come, to be dedicated to the work which we helped so nobly to advance. It is rather for us to be here dedicated to the great task remaining before us-of continuing a successful life-and to request future L.H.S. students to develop as wonderful a school as was old L.H.S. We, the Class of 1967, under God, highly resolve that we shall have a new birth of life, and that Life of our class, by our class and for our class shall not perish from the history of Liverpool Senior High School. It was an experience to come from Peru where once flourished the Empire of the Incas. I want to thank the Liverpool A.F.S. Chapter, Miss Meek, the McCalls, who provided' a real home for me, all those who contributed to make it possible, my helpful teach- ers and the wonderful student body. I have shared the fun and responsibilities of school life. Brenda Camacho Ayacucho 263, Barranco Lima, Peru S. America I appreciate the kindness everyone has given me: my American family, the Williamsons, who are very nice and make me feel at home, Miss Meek, A.F.S. Chapter members, my teachers, my friends, and the Student. Council of Liverpool. I am grateful for the opportunity to live among other people, leam about American customs and education. I am glad to see you, talk to you, and know you. Perhaps this is the first and last time I'll live in America, playing in snow and seeing all kinds of things I don't have in Thailand. Please be sure, you are in my mind forever. Come see me and Thailand some day. Walaiporn Akanitapichat, 31115 Nha Muang Road, Khon Kaen THAILAND. lg ...-- Y ' 'm L Q Alfred North Whzlehead L 2 gf .
