We helped the sopho- mores to put on a very successful Christmas program. During the year .Toe Frasure quit school. We joined in all the clubs and had a very pleasant year. The following Spetember, twenty-five of the band returned as the silly sophomores with Mr. Walter Chapman, the new coach, as our sponsor. Three of our boys, Raymond Barnett, Douglas Hicks and Maurice Smith. did not join our class again. In October Billy Garrett moved to Evansville to enter school. At the beginning of the last semester John L. Conrad came from Calhoun School to join our class. Marylois Shocklee and Doris Woosley left our class and married. Barbara Morris moved to Birmingham, Alabama. Barbara Friz- zell and Londa Scott quit school. , Back to the halls again in '48, nineteen of us resumed our journey as jolly juniors. Miss Ann Rowan Calhoun was our sponsor. Bobby Thomas, Doris Patrick and Atta Vincent did not start with us. Kenneth Cobb, who served in the army for fourteen months, joined our class. Laquita Boyken and Londa Scott started to school again and joined our class, later they and Carol Matthews quit school. Earlene Willis moved to Evansville to enter school. On April 8, 1949, we presented our junior play By Any Other Name, which was a huge success. Our four junior boys with the help of three eighth grade boys won the class basketball tournament. Our class sold magazines and the money we earned was to be used in buying a motion picture machine or a tape recording machine. In May we ordered our class rings and pins. We helped the seniors with their class night program. Again, and for the last time, we entered L.H.S. in September of 1949.There were only fifteen of us this time. four boys and eleven girls. On the thirteenth of September our rings and pins came. We really felt like seniors then. We decided to start on our annual early, so we could have it published before school was out. The first week in October we ordered our calling cards and invitations. In November we began to work very industriously on our annual. Our last in- stallment was sent off the last week of February. 26 Y., M. ,., . ....4.m....-.. , . ...s
