I R A ' ' 54 wa 5169, In May, l96O, we, Taloma Jean and Joan, planned to take a short vacation trip. We decided to visit our former superintendent, Mr. C. J. Moseley, who is now living on the Island of Porto Rico. We sailed from New York harbor on a very pleasant May day and arrived a few days later to receive a very warm welcome from Mr. and Mrs. Moseley and their seven children. After we had rested and had lunch,we were invited to see a program over their ALL WORLD TELEVISION SET. First we dailed Radio City, New York, and to our surprise we saw O. C. Owen, now a famous public speaker, making public addresses daily from the R. C. A. Building. After the speech by Mr. Owen a broadcast was brought from the Stork Clubg there we saw Barbara Stolsworth appearing in a startling form of the snake dance. She didn't seem very interested in the dance but was more concerned with a rich, bald prospect on the front row. We were interrupted by a news flash, a big Eastern Airliner had crashed while trying to land, and the air hostess, Miss Betty Ridenour, was the only one not injured. We again turned the dial and heard a highly ad- vertised Hybrid Seed Corn announcement. To our astonishment John L. Con- rad, now the owner of the well-known Jim Ellis farm, was sponsoring it. Next we saw the famous Powers model, Myrtle Shocklee, showing the new slender- izing fashions created by Paula Payne Nevitt. Both Paula and Myrtle are well- known all over the world for their famous dress styles. We then picked up a small newspaper, which turned. out to be the McLean County News, sent to the Moseleys by a friend in Livermore. The first thing we read in the paper was that Mr. Kenneth Cobb and his newly acquired wife, the former Miss Anna Dean Morgan, were honeyrnooning in Cairo, Egypt. We then read that Mr. Ted Owen had recently taken the job as superintendent of Livermore High School and his wife, the former Miss Janice Crume, was teaching algebra in the same school. We turned to the advertisement page and saw where Miss Joyce Messenger was a saleslady for Buick automobilesg she is employed by her fiance, Mr. Jim Brown. Then we read where Mary Atwell Stevens was the owner of a cab company with her date bureau on the side. On another advertisement we saw that Edwina Johnson and her husband Were operating the Easy Spin-dry Laundry in Washington, D. C. Before ret1ringMr. Moseley told us that our senior sponsor, Miss Calhoun, was now an opera singer. After singing at the Metropolitan in New York, she would make a European tour at the request of the King of England. We were awakened early the next morning by a small boat which brought the mail. Mr. Moseley received a letter from another one of our class mates, Judy Girvin. telling how she had been disappointed in love and was now the owner of an,an- - 11- -i-.1 4 tn HP WRST:

She wrote all the news from Livermore saying she had recently visited the former Miss Bonnie Hicks, who married the mayor of Nuckols and is living on a small farm where she is specializing in plant life and bugs, For our future entertainrnent Mr. Moseley insisted that we visit the village fortune teller before we left the island. The fortune teller read our palms and told us that she would mail our fortunes in a letter. When We got safely home after our pleasant visit, our fortunes were waiting for us. The letter read as follows: Dear Joan: l can tell by your charming voice that you are a singerg you have been appearing as Canary with the Hot Licks Corn Fed Band, which appears in all the larger cities. May you have a successful year! And your friend Taloma is now living ona small farm near Buel with her husband.
