For example, people often receive false impressions of the three administrative offices at Livermore High School. The Main Office appears empty and inactive, but is it really? The L sf ., , .5 9 if pf f 5 gi' 14354 f sf Assistant Principals' Office seems to serve only disciplinary purposes, but is that its only function? The Counseling Office is seen as an office which creates its own impenetrable bureaucracy, but does it? Well, those who are familiar with what really takes place in these offices would probably say no to the three previous questions. The image each office creates may be an illusion, but reality and illusion differ. The Main Office appears to be empty and lifeless because the room itself is relatively large and each person is separated in individual sections. Nevertheless, the Main Office is the headquarters for school-wide communications, community relations, and staff organization. Because they are most visible while stopping a fight or patrolling the campus, the Assistant Principals, Miss Lucido and Mr. Cariveau may seem to perform only police-like functions. Although they do have disciplinary responsibilities, the APs and their secretary, Mrs. Resemius, have other duties as well. They supervise and support student activities and organizations and serve as an important resource for the school. The Counseling Office, because of its physical arrangement, creates its own image of being a bureaucracy. Students must wait in a small section and sit. Each counselor, under the supervision of Mrs. Donaldson, has his or her own office and is separated from the waiting students. Hidden behind the walls of the individual offices is the personal contact and genuine concern generated by the counselors. Counselors are always there when a student needs to talk and are prepared to help in any situation. The three administrative offices have their images, but to see past these images would be to see reality through illusion. if dministration 1 'N A f - . .f W- , fyg' fs fi .
