Have you ever been eager to learn? Have you ever found yourself looking forward to a class? You can answer yes to these questions and many others if you have been in a class of Ken Teberg's. And it is to this man the 1970 El Vaquero is dedicated. Whenever you enter S-4 you will find a room full of enthusiastic faces. Behind the cluttered lab table you will find a man in a green smock teaching with the same enthusiasm. Mr. Teberg is dedicated not only to science. but to the art of teaching. Spiced with psychology, parables, and refreshing wit, his lessons have inspired students at LHS for many years. It is for these reasons the staff is proud to dedicate this annual to Mr. Ken Teberg. aquero .,,,,V , 1 x x v r x My :Af Dedicated Citizen , Concerned with Students, Take y, Action Together ,,,. .. The campus scene was a festival of different colors, caps, and costumes. For the first time in their educational career the upper classmen had the privilege of being senior hams. In December they began work on Christmas decorations in the main building. Using the theme, How the Grinch Stole Christmas , they followed the story from the original T.V. special. As usual, Senior Ditch Day, like Dress Down Day, is considered another delightful honor to the senior class. They followed up the year's activities with the Senior Ball held in May. Of the four years of their high school career, the last is the most hectic. The versatile senior class experienced a busy and successful term. With graduation upon them and their high school days completed, they realize a new era in their lives is just beginning. Along with Christmas and New Year came the decorating of the Science Building by the junior class. The junior class officers worked hard to promote their Junior Prom. An eagerly waiting junior class attended the prom on March 7 in the Girls Gym. The class of '71 is looking forward to being seniors for their final of four years. Honorable Sophomores Create A Blizzard at the Soph Hop The sophomores, which this institution had already accepted as upper classmen, began their financial year with a car wash and bake sale. The soph class carried out their first activity before the beginning of the '69-'70 school year in the Vineyard Shopping Center at the Union Gas Station and in front of the Lucky Supermarket. The total benefit of the car wash and bake sale came to the sum of S40.00. With the help of their advisor, Mrs. Thomas, they then began work on the Sophomore Hop. It's A Blizzard was held December 12 in the Boys' Gym. The Sunday following, a chosen few met at the school to begin work on Christmas decorations. The sophomore class had the honor of decorating the Library Building. The main nucleus for the team were Garcia, Richardson, Walden, Mason and Snodgrass. During the season there were some fine individual performances turned in, including the sharing of a course league record by Garcia and Richardson. JV's Show Determination Take Second LHS J.V. basketball team placed third in the EBAL. The cowboys saw defeat in the eyes of the Albany Cougars and the Amador Dons. The major cog for the Livermore machine was team captain Ed Wondolowski, who was the fifth best scorer in the league. Ed, whose position was guard, received the most valuable player award. Next to Wondolowski, score wise, was guard Toby Rein. LHS rebounders were forward Doug Morrison and center Bob Watt. Free throws, stated new coach and science teacher Eric Lyons, were a major flaw for the hoopsters. The team was above average in their defensive and offensive plays. Basketball Places Second in EB L The Cowboy basketball team had a challenging year, as they added to the Cowboy fame with an impressive 19-6 overall record. The team did a great job in league play. finishing with a 10-2 record and second place in the league. A three point loss to the league champions early in the season was avenged in the final home game as we whipped the Amador Dons by sixteen points. The many action-packed evenings were enjoyed by fans, both students and parents alike. The first team, composed of Kurt Humphrey, Larry Carpenter. Mark Lungrun, Mike Fullmer and Russ Noack, played unselfishly. Glen Schuknecht rounded out a team which deserved all the praise and admiration they received. The senior point makers for 1969 were Steve Langston, who placed third in the league: Paul Rosengren, who placed fourth: and Phil Wente, half of the doubles team which faired second in EBAL play. And this year our team managed a season record of 9 wins-2 losses-1 tie. Livermore placed second in the league by losing two very close games to Amador. Some valuable graduation seniors were Chris Neilson lcaptainl, Jeff Sheline, Mike Alford and Dan Forey. All four made the All League-All Star Team. 'Expected to be important factors of the 1970 LHS Soccer team are Les Hord and Frank Woodward. who both made the EBAL All Star team, Mike Martinez, Paul Council and Ed Meyer. Next year, Coach Don Gabor stated, the team to beat will be Dublin: Amador is losing 17 out of21 players. LEFT: Livermore booter Les Hord collides with opponent. The team, one of the best JV teams ever to come from LHS, played a very fine season and they had real reason to be very proud of them. The back field of the school saw quite a bit of the team, since they could be found out there practicing every night after school from March through May. All that practice stood them in good stead as they fought hard in all the games they played. In the JV baseball team of this school year Livermore High had a winning team and will have many good prospects for the Varsity teams of next year and the year after that.
