- 4 u-pon.------NA 0- 1-0 A.--xnv' A ' -2 PRINCIPAL'S ME9SAGE':- -- ' . . f - The memory of the year 1924 in the Livermore Union High School will be a singularly happy one for us all. The Student Body meetings under the direction of our efficient president, Elbert Kirkman, and his assistants have been especially en- joyable. They have been greatly helped by the improved sing- ing under Miss Harvey's direction and the many contributions to our entertainment by Miss Nissen's Dramatics Class. The new gymnasium, which won the approval of the commun- ity from the start, is going up in excellent shape and faster than we had hoped. The boys working with Mr. Gibson are also learning practical lessons in building, plumbing, and carpen- tering besides learning to do stunts on the acrobatic stage by climbing to dizzy heights. The gymnasium project written up in a magazine distributed to all the high schools of the State has brought much favorable comment to the School. Our basket-ball season was a remarkably successful one, not so much because we won so many games, but because it has brought our school into touch with other good schools and col- leges and put us on the map most favorably. The most encouraging feature of all connected with our high school is the very gratifying way in which our alumni are making good both in business here at home and at the Un- iversities and Teachersh Colleges where several are now en- rolled. This test, successfully passed, of competition with outside schools sets a mark of approval on the work of the school that all connected with it understand and appreciate. This success comes from the genuine cooperation of students, faculty, trustees and community. It's the finest kind of ad- vertisement both for our school and for our town. It is also the finest kind of incentive which those of us remaining in the school and those soon to enter it, will try tremendously hard to profit by. Our newly organized Scholarship Society shows us that the main work of the school, that is its scholarship,is stead- ily improving, In conclusion a special word of appreciation is due the staff of this mThe Green and Gold Annualng a staff which,ful- ly representative of all the interests and organizations in our school gives us each year, without taxing the community, an excellent and most attractive record of the year's achieve ments.
