They roared over every opponent this season loosing only twice. The Lions who were well organized, fought hard in every game. They displayed the finest qualities of a Championship team, sportsmanship and team-work at the head of the list. Coach Smith handled these boys in a super way and shared their success and delight. The B's lost the maior part of their games but showed all kinds of improvements as the season drew to a close. They provided many thrills for the fans and were never in a dull game. Many will be the backbone of next year's quintet. Th C's and D's under the coaching of Mr. Heilmann also started off slow but improved as the season rolled along. They will spark next year's B's. The basketball season this year can be called a near success and next year will show class A material. TEAM HISTORY , Our I946 season turn-out was a big improvement over the previous season. A large number of team aspirants were experienced, a different condition also. Fighting Lions gradually sharpened their claws for the fray, under the watchful eyes of Coach Smith. Roaring over Biggs and Los Molinos in practice games they bogged down in league compe- tition. Arbuckle, last year's record spoiler again this year gummed up the works for the ambitious Lions. The team averaged l5O pounds. Quarterback Charles Flowers was elected team Captain. The coming season will see us change' from the South Side League to the West Side League. Also, our gallant Lions will be starring in ll-man football, with a varsity and a B team. Schools included in this League will be: Anderson, Colusa, Corning, Gridley, Orland, Willows and Live Oak.
