GARY PAGE GRAY POTTER Geokciz Votkuar jon RM BOYS' BASKETBALL The 1952-53 boys' basketball team, under the coaching ol John l'Vitt, proved to be one of the most formidable hardwood units ever to repre- sent Litton in the cage sport. Although the boys lost out during the final week of the season in their bid for the fourth place position in the l9th District, the starting live of Go-Captains Gray Potter and George Vol- kert, Gary Page, Joe Ray, and Larry Tillman was rated by many opponents as one of the best in the league. Their race-horse style of play was feared by many opponents, and the boys demonstrated some of the N. I. I..'s best basketball in their Fwmt Row: Ray Dickerson, George Volkert. Cary Page, Wilbur Clouse, Kenny Burnett, jimmy Nabors, Johnny Moore. impressive victories over the highly-rated East Eagles and the powerful Central Tornadoes. A bright spot of the season was the sparkling court play of sophomore Phil Hargis and junior joe Ray, who was chosen on one of the All- Nashville teams. The Lions were knocked from tournament contention in the l9th District semifinals by Dt1Pont, following an early round victory over the Antioch Bears.
