The Club strives to promote interest in the German lan- guage and customs. To understand another culture is the prime goal of the Russian Club. Plans for a Latvian Christmas party and speakers from the dif- ferent sects of the Russian Orthodox C h u r c h are among the major activities for the year. Because of its hope to send a student to France, the French Club has spon- sored many money-raising projects such as bake sales and the annual presenta- tion of the French Club Film F estival. Devoting its ef- forts to learning about Spanish speaking p e o p l e and their customs, the Spanish Club enjoys lectures and Spanish meals. The group sponsors a welfare project in December. To increase, through competition, the effectiveness of the spoken word is the chief concern of the Forensics Team. The team participates in de- bates, discussions and individual events. Susie Gunther and fanet Tennant were selected to be majorettes on the basis of their baton twirling ability, and their over-all appearance. Appear- ing during sports events, this talented duo colorfully highlights the band. The six varsity cheerleaders arouse school spirit and direct the Pep Club and spectators in boosting the teams on to victory. The Lionettes are 16 girls who per- form spirited routines at half-time programs of games. High moral char- acter is a requirement, along with membership in the Pep Club and main- taining a B average. With Latin banquets, complete with togas anal slaves, and a junior Classical League convention, the Latin Club strives to promote interest in the classics. UMXK Pep Club helps to keep up the school spirit by going to the games and supporting our teams. They sponsor the Twirp Dance which took place in February. W hy are these boys huddled in a group around their ham radio? Some subversive plot? No, it's a meeting of the Radio Club learning about amateur radio operation, licensing, and use of frequencies. Eventually this club hopes to have its own school affiliated station. Thanks to the Emergency Service Club, fire drills at the high school run smoothly and efficiently. Members are volunteers who are interested in seeing that the school functions properly in an emergency. Students may become Thespians after donating time, energy and talent to the cause of one of Littleton High's theatrical productions. Thespians is the guiding hand backstage during a play to make sure everything runs smoothly. The Sportsmanship Committee, under the direction of Mr. Frank Gentile, consists of two members of the Executive Council, one cheerleader, Pep Club president, and one athlete. The committee judges the sportsmanship of the athletes, Pep Club, and students at all athletic activities for the sportsman- ship trophy. Psychology Club consists of past or present psychology students with a 2.5 or above average. The members pursue their interest in psychology through field trips, movies, and the study of Mental Health. The club is sponsored by Mr. Patrick McCone, Psychology Teacher. Starting the year by building a prize win- ning Homecoming float, Quill and Scroll con- tinued its enthusiasm with the initiation of several new members and establishing a pub- lications morgue for the journalism depart- ment. Membership is available to all who ride the boards in the winter. Flashing blades characterize both the novice and expert skaters. D.U., South Suburban, and Homewood rinks are often used for intri- cate figure eights and simple waltz's. The band room is filled to overflowing when the Youth for Christ Club is in session. The club is for faiths and members who enjoy speakers on voca- tional opportunities, an annual Christmas party and a Graduation party for all graduating seniors. The Folk Singing Club is composed of students who have an interest in folk and country music. The strains of music can often be heard emerging from one of their hootenanies. The L-Club is a service organization comprised of boys who have won let- ters in one or more sports. Their major social project is a Lions Day Dance at the end of the year. Key Club is a Kiwanis sponsored service organization which participates in many school and community projects. Members of Key Club are responsible for the raising and lowering of the school flag and helping a needy family at Christmas. Style shows are just one of the many extra- curricular activities sponsorecl by the Future Homemakers of America. The girls have also become proficient in cooking and sewing. v 60 Homecoming 1963 Amid paper napkins, chicken wire and bent nails, work pro- gressed on the Homecoming floats. Pep Rallies Frogmen and pom-pon girls who double as cheerleaders and football players are not unusual sights at pep rallies. These rallies take place in the boy's gym where the team members are introduced to the student body. Foreign Nora Donatelli is Littleton H ighis exchange student from Barcelona, Spain. Nora is active in IRC, AFS club, Executive Council, and A Cappella. Nora feels that the most unique fea- ture at Littleton is the pep assemblies. Mary Anne Houy spent eight months at a private girls, school, the Wilderness School in Adelaide, South Australia as Littleton's AFS exchange student. She found the Australians have a unique sense of humor and are warm and hospitable. Exchange Hfahel' Wade, Littletonls happy Aussie', from Campertown, Victoria, Australia, is a football, cricket and cross country fan. He ad- mires the excellent student-teacher relationship at Littleton High and enjoys our abundant sporting facilities. School in Australia has proved to be a completely new experience for Janet Baker. Her school subjects include French and physi- cal education but has no electives. The only social life is choir and an inter-Christian social organization.
