They have aided and guided us Through these past years which have flown by all too quickly. Although Miss Held has not been present in this, our senior year, we know that she has been with us in spirit. lvlr. Evans has very ably taken on the responsibility of leading us without assistance through one of the most important years of our lives. Therefore, as a Senior Class, we humbly and graciously say, Thank You. 4 ADMINI TRATION Co MJ 14552, X A f .cf- eg ' f' f ff ffjtxx ff 0 'ff' 'fx if ff .ff f Il is 6' M 4 X 2 -X The adage Here Today, Gone Tomorrow, may well express the passing of time along this milestone of your educational experience. High school was iust another one of those life markers and how far you travel depends on your indi- vidual initiative and interest. Your present ad- vance is evidence of your desires to go forward. Then too, may you continue to grow in knowl- edge and understanding of life and its problems. Accept our best wishes for your success in all your endeavors, and may the blessings of your Alma Mater go with you. lSignedl Paul E. King Another school year has passed into history at L.H.S. and we wish to congratulate you, the members of the Class of l959, upon your graduation. We hope that your stay in school has been most profitable to you scholastically and socially and that it will always be a help to you in your chosen vocation and that your future accomplishments will win for you honor and respect. It was a pleasure to have had you in our school family and, in the years to come, we urge you not to forget your Alma Mater where you will always be welcome. Best wishes are extended to you with the hope that the future will always have some- thing good in store for you. lSignedJ Lloyd L. Stavely To the graduation Class of 1959 The disciplined mind is what education at every level should strive to produce. The years from six to eighteen are the years in which young men and women must learn to think clearly and ac- curately if they are to learn to think at all. The seed must be planted at the beginning and cultivated continuously if the crop is to be ready when it is required. These intellectual abilities are required, not merely as a prerequisite for advanced study, but also and especially for intelligent participation in the private and public affairs of a world where decisions must be made on the basis of informed and accurate thinking about science, about economics, about history and politics. lSignedJ Frank E. Graduation! Four years ago this thought was but a dream. We feel they have been four very happy years, although we are saddened by the fact that our school days at L.H.S. are over. Many memories go with us as we look for the last time, at a scant review of those four valuable years. Term 55-56, we were known as Freshmen. An exciting and inter- esting year it was. We were now grouped Academic and Commer- cial. We received our rings, crowned Shirley Showvaker Queen of the Valentine Dance, and took a very interesting and educational trip to Hershey and Harrisburg. We took part in band, chorus, and athletics. After a happy vacation, we returned, now known as Sophomores. We again took part in activities and enjoyed our first year in High School. 57-58. We are now Juniors. We will never forget this year, especially the all night decorating for the prom and staying up the next night half asleep to enioy it. We received our class rings. At the close of another successful year, we realized there was but one year left. We are now Seniors. After a struggle, we have finally earned enough money to pay all our bills. Our trip to Washington, D.C., couldn't have been better, or more interesting. The senior play, Rebel Without A Cause, starring Judy Long, Jesse Sheely and a cast of others went over big, thanks to Mr. Trimmer and the co- operation of all the pupils. The Christmas Dance was a huge suc- cess. After exchanging pictures, autographs, and friendly vows, we realize the time to receive our diplomas is here. As we move forward into the world to take our place as adults, we leave many thanks to our teachers for a wonderful iob well done. To our friends we say, Best of luck, and a last farewell. Jolly Juniors was our name as the eighty-three members of the Class of 1960 entered the halls of L.H.S. in September, 1958. We looked for- ward to receiving our class rings and presenting the Prom to the Seniors. As usual, we participated in football, band, basketball, chorus, and other activities. As Sophomores, we became senior high students eager to refer to L.H.S. as our Alma Mater. Our Freshman year was very important. Our size was greatly increased by students from West Manheim Township. We attended the main social event, The Valentine Dance. During seventh and eighth grades we adjusted to our new surroundings and started to take part in school activities. Chicken Run Scene Old Mansion Hideout 48 1 5 r Planetarium Knifing Scene Without a Cause On November Qlst and 22nd the senior class of L.H.S. presented Rebel Without a Cause which proved to be one of the most successful plays ever given at Littlestown. The story concerns a teen-ager named Jim Stark, portrayed by Jesse Sheely, who is trying to please his parents, played by Ken Hollinger and Janice Breighner, and at the same time fighting a desperate battle to avoid being like them. When he meets Judy Brown, enacted by Judy Long, he becomes involved with the gang leader, portrayed by Karl Bankert, and his followers. However Jim does find a friend in Plato, a young boy who has similar problems. Hugh Roberts was seen in the role as Plato. All in all, the plot presents a moving and touching story. Others in the cast were Mike Collins, Wayne Conover, Sam Frymyer, Judy Breighner, Mary Jane Arentz, Charles Hawk, Roberta Graham, Joyce Breighner, Jim Patterson, Dean Shorb, Jack Ketterman, Susan Strevig, Shirley Leister, Janet Sell and Pat Yingling. i 1 Love Scene Wounded Plato Blue Officers if J- rm . - .. lst ROW, L-R: S.
