Text from Pages 1 - 96 of the 1957 volume:

THE LITTONIAN The theme of this book is Building a Better Fu- ture. The purpose of this yearbook is to show how we have attempted to prepare for our future. ln academic work we have been studying so we will be able to enter such fields as science, medicine, engineering, radio, and teaching. In commercial work we have done things which will enable us to become accountants, bookkeepers, and secretaries. In Home Economics, Industrial Arts, Clubs, Dramatics, Ath- letics, and Science Fair, which is fairly new in this area, we have been learning the value of working together and assuming some of the responsibilities with which we shall be faced in the future. We of the Class of 1957 are proud to present this book to our community as a partial record of what we have achieved. o 15,3 APN' y.AAH-VA' 11,417 ru ng-'N- Ai 'NF .A .1- rf via 24' .iyl wg. The board approved the plans of the new school and construction was started on February 9, 1953. The building was rapidly completed and soon it was ready to be moved into. The school was dedicated on January 29, 1954, and the chil- dren moved into the building on February 1, 1954. The modern building has 18 class rooms, an all purpose room, health room, conference room, teachers room, and an office. ln these rooms there are 526 children ranging from first to fifth grade. Parents of the children who go to this school, will always appreciate what the teachers are doing and the advantages of this modern school. 5 3 neo S Teachers Mrs. Seiwell, Mrs. Harbach, Mrs. Knouse, Mrs. Study, Mrs Knechel Mrs Jones Mrs Sent! It is also our hope that you will have a success- ful and happy future and, in the years to come, as you browse through The Littonian may it bring to you sweet memories of your days spent at Littlestown High. As you pursue the pathway of life we hope that you will be able to suc- cessfully solve the many problems that will, no doubt, confront you. We were glad to have you as stu- dents and, whenever convenient, we invite you to visit your Alma Mater. Signed: Lloyd L. Stavely Administrative Assistant 'r Qhpx Ll-I pau! Z, Kan? Years do come and years do go and with each one a new class graduates from Littlestown High. lt is apparent that every group makes a contribution to their school. You, the class of 1957, have been most outstanding in this respect. You leave us not only with fine memories, but also with a heritage much worthy of the emulation of others. Our hopes and prayers are for your success. Whatever be your station in life, may the things you have learned and the guidance which you have been given stand you in good stead. May you never forget your Alma Mater and be assured that as you enter the fraternity of alumni, you are always welcome at the old school. Signed: Paul E. King Supervising Principal ?fz4m65.? Thank you for the honor ac- corded me of saying a word to the graduating class of 1957. My hearty congratulations to you in- dividually and as a class, upon your successful pursuit and com- pletion of your studies at Littles- town High School. l trust you have found your years in school as time well spent, and you think of your- self as socially inspired and trained to meet the beckoning call of our ever changing world. It is expected of you today to serve as a torch bearer of the new age which is lust opening out before us. ln this hour of human destiny, your part is to work for the honor, safety and welfare of our America and of all peoples who will unite in mutual good will to open the gates ofa new life for all man- kind. May you match these danger- ous days with enlarged sympathies. Moy no resentment, no selfishness, or no preiudice choke and clog the channels of your eager service to others. Signed: Frank E.
