I Sophomore Class History On a beautiful fall morning early in September 1951, a large group of students entered L. H. S. , eager and excited about their new surroundings. The first few days we forgot our books and went into the wrong classrooms but we soon adjusted ourselves. Many of our class participated in the extra-curricular activities such as band, sports, chorus, and lending our talents to the show, Littonian Wits . The highlights of the year were the ordering of class caps and the annual Valentine's Party. We returned to L.H,S. in the fall of 1952 to find that our class was somewhat smaller. We were determined to work hard and participated in the various activities. Some of our class functions were ordering our class emblems and earning money for our class. We enjoyed a visit to Gettysburg and our Valentine Party. When the term of 1953-1954 began, being the eldest of the Junior High, we were known as the greenies or freshmen. This was the busiest year this far in our school career, trying to decide our courses, studying, and taking part in other school activities. The main events of the year were the ordering of our class rings, our class trip to Harris- burg and the Hershey Chocolate Factory, the Valentine Party, at which Frances Miller s chosen 'Queen of Hearts September 1954, our class again entered L H S this time to be known as the silly Sophomores To earn money for our class we held a food sale We visited the Adams County Court House in Gettysburg and many of us attended the Christmas Dance for the first time The long awaited time for ordering class rings finally arrived and the year of school life came to a close Signed Jane Barton Historian FIRST ROW F Miller M Koontz W Redding S Anthony E Hafner M Hxlker SECOND ROW J Ammenheuser M Worley P Rimel S Erb J Bair J Dutterer F Rudisill K Hilker Advisor Mr Thomas THIRD ROW G Brumgard B Cornell R Messinger R Clapsaddle C Fuhrman C Rucker M Cookson R Garvick W Hockensmith ABSENT J Rebert 51 wa ' . . . ., 3 7 B.
