The longest route run by one bus is49 miles. Sixteen busses are used to carry approximate ly 1100 pupils both ways, the average distance is about 22 miles, the total busses travel about 720 miles a day,and they cov- er an area of 298 square miles. Three of the starting boys: Brandon, Hendrickson, and McCanlies were also first stringers in football,and about the middle of the season, Vernon Wright,Cnot pictured another starting player, moved away. Because of lack of experience, time and equipment the team does not have an outstanding record from the point of number of games won, however, the season was a success when measured by the other points of achievement. The boys brought the consolation trophy home from their first tournament. The Littlefield boys' basket ball team started thei K :'H'E71S The Littlefield girls' basketball team had a successful season,winning all of their conference games and thirteen out of the total seventeen The team started the season by winning the trophy for first place in the Spade tournament. Again the team won second place in the county tourna nent. Imogene Harlin, captain, topped the season as high point player. Nadene Fields, co-captain, played a smooth game throughout the season The girls are looking forward to a very successful season next year, al though we are losing Nadene Fields, Juretta Peel, Imogene Harlin, and Al lyne Williams, all of whom were outstanding players this season. The Association represents any holders of our High School ULN. Most of the present mem- bers of the ULN Association are Football lettermeng how- ever, a few have been honored the Basketball NLM. The Association stands for good sportsmanship and clean liv- ing. It is a club exclusively for Senior girls, and each girl must be making passing grades before she is eligible for membership. The Hi-Y Club in Littlefield High School was organized in l939,but the organization was disbanded and inactive until this year. Pledges are voted in by the old members each spring. The Hi-Y Club is a religi- ous organization, and all its meetings and socials are conducted in a manner befitting the club purpose. The sponsors of the club are Mrs. Hugh McKinley and Mrs. Paul King. F.H.A. offers opportunity for the further development of pupil ini- tiative in planning and carrying out the activities related to homemaking. Future Homemakers of America is an incorporated non- profit youth organization. It came into being through the cooperative efforts of youth enrolled in homemaking in Sec- ondary Schools in building a national organization of their own in which they may develop social qualities and promote better home life for its members and their families. Meetings are scheduled on the second Tuesday of each month. There is a social every month, and the high light of the year is the HMother and Daughtern banquet. Club advisors are Mrs. Sims and Mrs. Blackwell. In January the Chorus went to each of the towns in the county giving concerts for The March of Dimes and was received graciously everywhere. The High School Sextet made up of six of the Chorus girls: Glendo- lyn Bales, La Rue Clark, Lena Floy Denson, Virginia Har- lan, Pat Pratt, and Frances Toews also sang at many dif- ferent occasions throughout the school year, All of the members of the Choral Class can look back on the entire year as filled with success and enjoyment.
